I live in the same city as Gert. I thought I knew her story. I’ve seen her around. But didn’t know how she got to be One Tough Mother. She truly was amazing. She did it when women weren’t “in charge” and made a very successful business, along with her son, Tim.

This is a great book!! We have a 7 year old daughter and a 4 year old daughter; I'll always make a point to buy them Colombia gear after reading this book. Columbia is the epitome of American success story. I learned about several products I'd owned over the last 30+ years, and it was neat to see that Columbia had played a part in the making of them. One being an Orvis fishing vest.Great job Gert! There are many up above that are smiling down on you!!

This book was interesting and entertaining. I happen to know Gert personally as she married my best friend's brother, Neal Boyle, so the book was extra meaningful to me. It's a great story of an immigrant family who achieved the 'American dream', and it has a lot of info for those who have their own business. I highly recommend it to young entrepreneurs or anyone who enjoys a story with a happy ending.

Interesting autobiography about Gert Boyle, the Columbia Sportswear Company and the way she ended up there. The book is written with a no-nonsense voice and a good sense of humor - quick to read and includes some photos from the company's ad campaign built around Ms. Boyle.

A lot of great takeaways. This is one book that I will come back to often for guidance. No fluff here. Just an honest and brilliant philosophy about life and business.

I love true stories about successful women - and this is definitely that. "True Grit" could have been another title for this book! Gert is a great storyteller, intertwining heartache with humor. Inspiring!!

It is so short and good there is no reason why you shouldn't read it. I'm calling it a biovella.

Just a great quick read, interesting story, awesome woman. And funny.

This product was as advertised, short and to the point. More history on the company and how the author found success would have been interesting.
