Waterford Crystal Irish Brilliance

Highly recommend this book. Been a collector for years. Fav part is the section where they have like 12 large illustrations of each named pattern per page. Love this book

Good resource

I received my very first piece of Waterford Crystal many decades ago in the form of a Christmas ornament. Since then, I have acquired additional pieces in various patterns, but I am far from knowledgeable. But I love to learn and I purchased Waterford Crystal Irish Brilliance as a teaching and reference guide. So far, I have not been disappointed; I have been captivated!

This book was disappointing that it was not as much information as you would expect. There aren't very many books on Waterford, so this is better than nothing. It is in black & white and doesn't have all the patterns in it. I guess it would be hard to have all the patterns included, since Waterford has been around a long time. There is some good history in the book. Anyway, I am glad I bought the book, it is more information than I had before.

Fast shipping and a decent price.

There are a lot of typos in the book, as well as really bad/grainy photography. The patterns list is incomplete and the patterns listed are not fully described. Lismore alone would likely be 3x the number of pages it is given. I am keeping the book in hopes that the pattern drawings will be of enough help to merit the cost of the book long term.

Pretty basic information, particularly about specific Waterford patterns. interesting background information about the company, though. Very anecdotal, informal, even home-spun. LOTS of proofreading errors, not what I would call a professionally put together book. It's more like a package of photocopies bound together in a decent softcover binding. Don't expect too much.

My Dad collects Waterford and is incredibly hard to buy presents for as he is specific, hence he got this as gift for Christmas. He really likes it and finds the images inside very clear and the text easy to read.I had a look at it too and I quite liked it. I found the descriptions clear and was impressed with the drawings.My Dad uses it as a reference book but I think anyone with an interest in Waterford would like this book.Would I recommend it? Definitely.

Tis a useful guide to the identification of the commercial lines of waterford glass. It is less useful for 'one offs).
