Great Replacement To Repair Our JBL Speakers - Good Quality and a Great Price
Great Replacement To Repair Our JBL Speakers - Good Quality and a Great PriceWe have at Queens Christian Alliance Church about (4) JBL speakers that use this part for the tweeter that are installed in them. Unfortunately due to use and some abuse the tweeter diaphragms were damaged and no longer functioned. I check online regarding to the repair of the speakers on YouTube and it outlined how to diagnose if it was a faulty tweeter diaphragm. After testing I discovered that (3) of the (4) JBL speakers did in fact have this issue and we need to repair all of them.Additional investigation and discussion with a speaker specialist fleshed out that these diaphragms were designed to use Ferro Fluid to cool the voice coils to prevent damage when driven too hard. This may occur when feedback happens unexpectedly and the tweeters are overdriven. Purchase of the ferro fluid was make on Amazon also to properly repair the speakers.Depending on the model JBL speakers you have the take apart may differ from my repair. Basically we took off the front grill and the securing screws. Loosened the handle mount which also includes the connection panel. Removed the tweeter unit and then disconnected the +/- leads. After removing the tweeter unit we removed the plastic horn unit from the tweeter main body. Then removed the tweeter diaphragm. Looking carefully at the tweeter base magnet where the coil slides into we did notice a dark brownish residue which are telltale signs of the tweeter being over driven. We cleaned the brown residue off and then replace a few drops of ferro fluid into the cavity carefully. Reinstalled the new replacement tweeter diaphragm and secured it with the original screws and reversed the take apart to put back the speaker. We ran a test signal through the speaker and were happy to hear that it was back up and running. The sound was crisp and clear as it was when the tweeter was functioning when we first purchased the JBL speakers.I have to say that we could have purchased more expensive replacement diaphragms or complete tweeter units, but for the price and a 30 - 45 minutes of work on each speaker we were able to repair all (3) defective speakers and get them back online. As always I purchase most if not all my items on Amazon through Smile to support our church and through vendors who offer Prime. The price was great and the shipment was timely.

Great product
I have a JBL2412H-1 horn and am so happy I did some research and found this diaphragm and didn't replace the whole horn driver which would have cost me about $60 or more, got this for $12 bucks and it was so simple to install, now my music sounds so much better, awesome product so far will update if it doesn't last, but so far looks like am back in business, thank you.

Not as good as a JBL, but the new JBL will probably blow just like the old one, so who cares. These are fine.
They're OK - The fidelity definitely isn't there compared to the original JBL, but it's close enough for messing around. The 2412 doesn't seem to be the most durable driver, so I don't feel bad about replacing the diaphragm with something crappy, seeing as it's probably just going to blow again in a few months anyway. Definitely have a low signal going to it when you assemble it. That way you can wiggle and torque the bolts in a way that doesn't distort or muffle it in any way.

Works like it should
I bought 2 jbls and both horns were blown. I was able to figure out changing the diaphragm is way cheaper amd easier than replacing the entire horn. $12 a piece, and my speakers are good as new. 2 full band practices and hours of spotify under their belt now.
