Perfect for pour-over coffee
For the price, this is an impressive bit of kit. It boils very quickly - much faster than the stove-top version I have - and being able to set the temperature is a real bonus if you are using it for coffee, tea etc. The spout is perfect for delivering a well controlled stream of hot water....just what is needed for my coffee pour overs. Other reviewers complain about the 'beeps' and I can understand that it could be irritating. However, once you understand the sequence..... it makes it very easy to use; especially when half awake in the morning. On the negative side......... The actual 'boil temperature' is always a few degrees higher than set and having to set the temperature every time its used is a real pain. The keep warm function is very useful but needs lots of buttom presses to activate it and reactivate after lifting from the base and returning. As the base provides the power..... the temperature indication and all settings are lost as soon as the kettle is lifted. Yes there are negatives BUT...... look up the price of the cheapest temperature controlled kettle that addresses all of these issues and you will realise that the Dr Hetzner is excellent value. Durability is difficult to assess; all 'gooseneck' kettles have a vulnerable spout and need care when handling (hence only 4 stars) but this kettle seems very robust with its all metal body and I expect it to give years of service. Overall......... a very good kettle for making hot drinks such as pour over coffee and great value for money.

Overall just decent, but unbeatable for the price
Bought this for my own personal coffee shop and used it for many pour overs over the weekend. Temperature control: Seemed to work fine, I corroborated it with my digital thermometer, I managed to get a steady 96 degrees every time. Spout: Spouts can be a personal thing, i haven't got huge experience with lots of goose neck kettles, but I've used a few and couldn't see anything wrong with this one. Boil Time: About what you'd expect, nothing radically fast or slow Keep warm feature: Seemed fine ,though it turns off as soon as you remove the kettle from the base, so you have to reset it Build: Seems fine but nothing particularly confidence inspiring. A bit of the lid which protects your hand from the metal surface when you hold the plastic handle has snapped. I'll try and fix this at some point with Sugru or similar. The lid is also a bit of a tight/awkward fit. It's not exactly precision engineered but it works Overall this kettle is extremely cheap for what it is. The next cheapest digital temperature controlled kettle with gooseneck is about a hundred pounds, which is too much for most home baristas. If this lasts me for a year I'll be very happy and I don't see why it wouldn't

Great kettle at a great price!
I was hesitant about this kettle due to the low price in comparison to similar products but was so pleased I bought it. The digital temperature sensor is great, it's not too big or heavy when full and the spout makes it amazing for tea! The difference is amazing, you won't need a teaspoon to squish a tea bag any more :) The only downside is we sometimes pre-boil water for cooking in a pan, it takes a little longer to poor with the narrow spout but not a massive deal. I read some comments about the on/off controls being confusing, I didn't find this at all. Very simple to use and a very happy customer!

Ease of use
Lid is difficult to remove. Fiddly controls - not clear how to set temp Apart from that seems well made, sturdy appliance, fast heating.

Great kettle, good value for money.
Lovely looking kettle; easy to use. Much quicker than my previous kettle and the swan neck helps make a lovely brew with itโs design. The addtional feature to choose temperature and keep warm for a period of time is great and it has an auto-shutoff for safety.

Great for drip coffee users, or just a good kettle.
This kettle is pretty much what I wanted for myself. I tend to drink coffee often, and drip coffee at that. The goose neck spout is great for slow pouring the water, and as it has tenptrure control, I've not had issues of the water being too hot. It boils nice and fast, in under a minute for about 500ml. It also has a keep warm in case I'm dragged away. It's honestly been great.

Very good value for money
I bought this as a gift for my husband to use with his Chemex. It was by far the cheapest option, but has worked really well -- keeps the water off the boil (as apparently is necessary to make quality coffee) and also has a convenient "warming" setting to keep the water at a consistent temperature. It is a bit noisy in that it beeps when you set it and again when the water is at the requested temperature (which may be something to be aware of for those in a small flat).

Rubbish temperature control
So many positive reviews, and yet this product is a real let down. I'm guessing most people buy it because they want to achieve a certain temperature for a certain drink. My advice: Look elsewhere. I read the instructions, I set it to 96c and put the keep warm function on. The kettle heated up, reached 96, carried on going until it hit 100c. I waited to see if it would drop to 96 and maintain that, after all that's the idea of the keep warm function, right? Well no, it dropped below 96c and carried on dropping. Ridiculous. If I wanted a kettle that boils and then cools down, I'd buy a regular kettle. As others have pointed out, it's pretty easy to pour too fast and have the water leak out of the top. If you live in a hard water area, this problem should resolve itself as the calcium buildup will form a seal around the lid. There's no filter for the spout, so I imagine in time it could become clogged without descaling. The kettle itself seems well built otherwise, and heats up quickly. But I'd recommend against it because of the temperature issues.
