Umien Granite Mortar and Pestle Set 8-Inch (3.5-Cup), Molcajete, Grey

I bought one for myself and loved it so much I have been giving these as gifts. It makes the best guacamole! So much fun to prepare it when friends and family are over. Beautiful to serve right in it. It’s heavy and sturdy. The more you use it, the more seasoned it gets. So easy to clean. Easy to grind spices and herbs. Great for salsa. Love it!

This mortar is beautiful, big enough too, just over 3 cup. It came with a felt pad for the bottom. Be ready ut is heavy. Like any mortar it needed smoothing, feel the mortar surface, try to smooth thstvout. Simply put in 1.5 cups of water and start grinding the surface with the pestle. This process smooths the mortar surface and the pestle. Mine needs a second time, then it will be ready once it is dry pour uncooked rice in grind it into a powder. Once done, toss out the powder wash it omit out let it dry

I acquired the UMIEN Granite Mortar and Pestle Set a few years ago (purchase: April, 2023). As far as functionality and aesthetics, there isn't anything I don't like about this mortar and pestle set. I like that it's all granite. Knowing that this item is pure stone makes me trust that nothing bad is going to seep into my food if I crush it. It's also very easy to clean. I haven't had any issues with the surface flaking off or food stains because of the granite material. I love the look of the item. It's a simple design and lends itself to just sitting out on display. Grey is a neutral color as well so if the color of the kitchen changes, then there isn't as much worry about needing to change out this item. The only critique of this mortar and pestle is that it's a little bit heavier than I expected. However, it is made of granite, so I should've expected the heft of the mortar. I would purchase this item again if needed and I would recommend this item to my family.

This is a great product. Have had it for a couple of weeks and here is what I can tell 1) Seasoning - I really didnt have to do a lot to season it.. the granite dust is almost non-existent. I did do the rice grinding exercise.. its a workout! but it was fun. I would suggest people to do the garlic seasoning process since its easy, fast and wont make you sweat! 2) Size - The size of the bowl is broad. I needed something broad so that I really work on pestos and chutneys with ease. 3) The grinding stone or pestle is the highlight for me. Instead of long cylindrical shape (which you see is most mortal pestle sets) this one is like two balls of granite stuck together. its easy on the wrist when grinding. the impact is more on the palm of your hands instead of wrists which is much more delicate. and the impact is much more softer as you are rolling through your ingredients with pressure, instead of pounding on them. 4) Heaviness and Sturdiness - this is heavy!! do please do try to lift it, move it wash it in hurry or with one hand.. if it falls.. it will cause serious damage! so always be alert and mindful when you are using it. Its sturdy.. it stays in place when you use. All in all.. I would say this is a great product, well made with great ergonomics.

Good weight works well could have better slip resistant legs, but made very well. The avocado peeler was broken. Could not use

This is a very authentic piece of kitchenware that anyone who relishes making their own guac from scratch should consider owning. Both pieces of the mortar/pestle set are made of stone and are very useful for mashing several avocados at the same time. The set can also be used to grind various seeds, nuts, garlic cloves, spices, etc. Both are easy to handwash and the bowl can also be used to serve your guacamole masterpieces. One word of caution: this set is made of stone and the bowl is a bit on the heavy side, so care is required to avoid accidents. The purchase also included a plastic tool consisting of a knife to cut open an avacado and the other end can be used for slicing.

Received this item today and it looks pretty good, it’s heavy and seems like a great product, but I. haven’t used it yet. It came with a card that says if I scan the QR code, it gives one year warranty for the product. But when I try to scan it, it’s saying to “follow the white rabbit” whatever that means. I don’t wanna click on unnecessary link or following anything. I wish they could just make it easy to access these warranties.🤷🏻‍♀️ Also it came with no instructions and I wish they include a cookbook also.

I needed a larger mortar and pestle to make guacamole, as well as grinding dried herbs. This 3.5 cup size is perfect. It comes with an anti-scratch pad that prevents the granite from scratching the counter surface, affixed with self adhesive. While it does not say it is dishwasher safe, I have put it in my dishwasher with no issues. I chose not use the anti-scratch pad for that reason and place it on a silicone matt instead. The rounded end of the pestle club is comfortable to hold in your hand and has a good-sized grinding surface. I like how this sits firmly on the countertop. Mortars that sit on legs can tip when you are pressing down on firmer food. No way this mortar bowl will ever tip over! It is made of very sturdy, thick granite. The bonus avocado "knife" is a nice addition, too.

Good size, can add a lot in at once to make a pesto. Very happy with the products.
