They feel softer than a baby's bottom! But they won't give a mirror surface. However, if used up a bit from the bottom, the difference between the surfaces is improved from the rougher wheels. But you do have to go from one grit to the next grit - I have 7 grits total. I only use this one on pieces that I'm really trying to impress people with since it takes awhile to go through the grits.Also, always remember to wash the piece between the using of the next grit. If you don't wash, grit from the last lap that has attached to your ceramic piece (or stone if you're grinding stones instead of ceramics) will effect the smoothness at the end. This happens with all laps - I used to cut and polish stones with very expensive equipment in a class and my jewelry making teacher told me this.Also, move the piece around a lot so as not to wear down spots on the lap, and use lots of water to preserve the surface and keep the heat level down. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Diamond coated flat lap disk wheel *by J***K on February 16, 2014* Well let me say why I thought this would be a handy product for my shop. I am always tinkering and trying to figure out what I can make out of things that are laying around. So laying around I had a Makita wet tool grinder which is a fine grindstone laying horizontally in a motor driven base and this stone can have a water drip on it for cooling the tool edge, this water runs out the side to a waste bucket or drain. My wife does glass work with a small kiln and "slumps" glass pieces over a form to create a vase or other similar shape and these always need the bottom flattened or cleaned up. Wet glass grinders cost big bucks!.This plate fits the top of a Makita grindstone perfectly, I then rethreaded a bolt to the metric size and secured this plate to the drive mechanism. I now have an effective wet grinder for flattening glass or smoothing glass edges under water.Don't know how long it will last, some diamond products are not manufactured as good as others but for the price why not take a chance. I believe the center hole is 5/8th and I can also see putting this on my 8 inch Delta grinder on the outside of a grindstone as a sort of side sharpening surface.Like I said the price is very good, and I may get back in here in the future to report on how long the diamond surface held up.Shipment was fast and packaged well.Jack. Life Member Central Ohio Wood Turners. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Review for 3000 grit only *by J***N on January 13, 2016* My 3000 grit disc didn't last long so I'm glad it was so low cost. It worked well for faceting while it lasted (4 stones). I later did some research and found that short life is a real issue with any electroplated 3000 disc. I may try these in the lower grit discs in the future. The label peels off to reveal a Chinese company so I suspect these are sold under many brand names. I must add that's not a turn off considering the price!Some other reviews have mentioned the thickness. These discs are just toppers - you need to have a solid disc under them for support (such as a master lap).
