Have this nori been tested for radiation?

Our organic nori has been tested for radiation by an independent 3rd party lab in the US and no traces of radiation was found during their test.

Question 2

Is it necessary to buy organic nori?  How is it grown or produced differently from non-organic nori?

Non-organic nori may or may not be grown under the same conditions as organic nori. The issue is that it is CERTIFIED organic. The source of nori may be organic, but if it is not certified there is no way of knowing. The organic certification process guarantees that a system is in place to ensure that the organic guidelines are met. We but organic to support the organic system.

Question 3

Like someone else here mentioned possible radiation contamination from the Fukushima plant - how do we know it is not radioactive?

Well, mostly because it is not from anywhere near Fukushima--it's a product of China, for better or worse. But if that worries you, just skip it. You would have to eat an awful lot of nori to get cancer from radioactivity!

How much iodine is in each sheet?

Accepted Answer

Nori seaweed varies in iodine amount, typically between 16 to 43 per gram. One sheet is about 2.5 grams. You can do the math with this product.  Hope that helps.
