I just did 2 coats on my unfinished tabletop and bookshelves, is it pointless for applying a 3rd coat? or 2 coats are already enough. Thank you.

i did 3 coats. if you have enough to do 3 coats I would do it.

Will this can be enough to cover a wood shelf thats 4ft long 7 inches wide 1 1/2 inches thick?

Yes it will. A little bit goes a long way. Made 4 5" cubes and put 3 coats of finish on all of them and barely used a fourth of the can. You should have no problem covering your shelf.
