The Divine Comedy: Inferno, Purgatorio, Paradiso (Gothic Fantasy)

Very enjoyable. A well-written translation

I am about 160+ pages in and I am very satisfied so far. The illustrations are top notch and blends well with the old school English translation. It is a challenging read, but still good nonetheless.

Good book of course.

The book is in pristine condition and arrived a day early. The pictures are amazing and the words, although small, are easy to see and read.

I read this book in my first language (Spanish) and I get OBSESSED with the Divine Comedy by Dante, so I thought that it will be great if a read it one more time in English, I just received my book and I’m flipping with the quality, however, I don’t see the annotations, When I start reading I will check more deeper on it but I’m already in love.

From the embossed cover to the awesome illustrations every thing about this book is fantastic! I purchased it for my daughter but she isn’t getting it until I’m done reading it, again.

The story if the divine comedy is a classic everyone should read and the illustrations in this book simply make the story come to life in a spectacular visual presentation. The artist attention to detail is fantastic and I believe the quality is something that even Dante would approve of.

Than problem I have with the book is the quality of illustrations. The images in inferno are underexposed with large portions too dark to distinguish. The images in Paradiso overexposed, therefore details are washed out. I don’t mind that there are no footnotes or annotations, it’s not a big deal to me to have to look up names or things unfamiliar to me. If that would be inconvenient to you I’d recommend getting a different edition. For a book written in the 13th century and translated to English over 100yrs ago it reads quite easily compared to many classic poems. Not terrible for the money but could be better.

I thought it arrived in perfect condition. It is an absolutely beautiful book with incredible artwork inside of it.

Book is great but the paper (newsprint paper) is not for this illustrations. All details are gone, high contrast and super dark ink saturated. Shame.

Came in perfect condition.
