Shark Apex Lift-Away Vacuum, DuoClean, Self-Cleaning, Espresso, AZ1002

To start off. It took less then 10 minutes to unbox and assemble this vacuum. I tested it out in the bedroom where 2 cats sleep off and on all day and night. It worked great on the hair and dry cat food that was on the floor. And my cats shed like you wouldn't believe! It picked up the cat food without just pushing it across the floor. Yay!! Another plus was maneuvering the vacuum itself. My old vacuum was heavy and became really difficult to push and pull. It still works great but I was tired of fighting with it. This new one is on the heavy side but still easily moves across the floor. Pulling it back is more difficult because it does seem to have some help moving forward from the brushes. But i didn't have trouble even with rotator cuff issues. I also have very long hair myself. Every time I ran the old vacuum I would have hair wrap after the first use when I cut the hair off the brush. Not with this one. I was impressed. It also comes with a light to let you know if the brushes are heating up. Keep an eye on that. If it turns red give it a break like the directions say. It is powerful and turning constantly. Its bound to heat up going from room to room. Even though I only tested this for a short period of time I really like this vacuum. Its the best I've owned and in the past I didn't spare any expense due to the fact that I own several animals and have for years. I didn't buy a Kirby or the likes but this is better than the heavy big name brands floating around out there. If your considering getting one of these. Go ahead and do it! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

This Shark apex vacuum is hands down the best one I’ve owned yet!!! Suction is wonderful and far exceeds my expectations. The power head attachment works amazing on area rugs. Vacuuming is a breeze between carpet to hardwood with the simple slide of a button designed and placed conveniently at your fingertips!! Some reviews had me skeptical on the no hair tangle feature but after some thought the pros still outweighed the cons for me and I am very happy with my purchase!! So I have literally, no joke, 4ft of hair as much as I try to keep it from falling on the floor while brushing or whatnot well life happens and it ends up there!! After using this vacuum for at least a month now there is some hair wrapped around the roller head. With that being said I’m still impressed with its ability to work because with previous vacuums that head would be pretty well wrapped tight with hair at this point. It seems it only collected slightly at one side of the vacuum head as well. Like I said even though it hasn’t kept the hair from wrapping around 100% free I’m still impressed with the ability it does have to work! Very happy with the overall performance ability that this Shark Apex has if you are debating which vacuum and you have a variety of flooring to clean look no further you will not be disappointed!!!! We get a lot of foot traffic and dirt from just everyday life with teenage kids and a toddler not to mention being married to a construction worker and being farmers the vacuum sees hours of use in a weeks time and has held up great, I have no complaints with the shark apex!!! Don’t wait any longer, I’m sure you will be as happy as I am with the shark apex’s power and ability!!

Seriously though, I purchased my first Apex back when Shark originally launched their “high-end” vacuum a few years ago (2019?) to compete with Dyson, and I was super impressed. It cleaned better than our previous (ridiculously overpriced) Dyson and Shark Navigator (which was good for the dollar!) vacuums. I found the Apex delightfully easy to use, had all the “empty bin” latches in the right places, the lift-away feature, was clearly made with high quality material, and even had a VERY helpful light on the handle for when you used the tube to get into corners! (How cool is that?!) Roll the tape forward… after using it relentlessly, cleaning up after a freakishly heavy-shedding golden retriever, a husky (known heavy shedder), cat, cat room (ew, gross!), and German shepherd, etc, the motor died. I was a bit disappointed as I expected it to last longer than 4 years, but relative to the abuse I subjected it to, maybe it’s fair to call it even. (The golden retriever has since moved out with his owner, and the husky and cat have sadly passed, so now it’s just our German shepherd. I figured it’s a good time to get a new vacuum cleaner.) So I looked for a new Apex, but saw Shark has a NEW high-end vacuum out, called Stratos. (And apparently, in between Apex and Stratos, they came out with Vertex). Stratos and Vertex reviews were very good, and I had the impression Shark was just keeping a good thing going with their high-end line. I guessed they probably made some minor improvements wherever improvements might be made (though I couldn’t think of many, except maybe making it lighter weight, and would it be too hard to add a duster/brush attachment on your high-end vacuum?), so I bought one. After one use, I put the Stratos back in the box and sent it back. Yes, it was a pound lighter than the Apex (oooh), but the materials seemed to be noticeably cheaper quality, and -what the frick- they discontinued the light on the handle?! And still no duster/brush attachment?? So in a way, it’s an overpriced Navigator, with a good brush upgrade. I then got online and checked the Vertex - it also had no handle light. Only Apex has it. Ok then. I got back on Amazon and found a new-in-box Apex *still available* and happily purchased it before someone else grabbed it. It just arrived today, and I went over one of the rugs I did yesterday with the Stratos and was surprised with how much additional dust and dirt the Apex picked up. It’s just a fantastic vacuum. I’m very happy to have a shiny, new Apex (with handle headlight!), and will absolutely wince each time the initial dings and scuffs happen and it no longer looks new. I’ll be super bummed the day it dies and can no longer be replaced, as based on the last 2 high end product releases from shark, they’re not on a trajectory of “better than last model”. I get it, corporations are always trying to be more profitable, and maybe for many people (non-Apex users), removing the handle light won’t be noticed, and maybe most (non-Apex users) won’t notice the cheaper materials. But in my opinion, it’s noticeable. Apex truly is the best vacuum I’m aware of. Get it while you can.

I am the former owner of the Shark Rotator Pro Lift-A-Way. <--- this was my favorite vacuum ever. I have owned it for a few years and would have never considered giving it up until it quit, but my daughter is moving into a new home that is carpeted, so it turned into a hand me down. I thought about purchasing the same again for myself, but the one and only thing that drove me nuts was that hair (mostly my own, which is long) had to be cut from the roller often - so I opted for the Shark APEX AZ1002 DuoClean with Self-Cleaning Brushroll Lift-Away Upright Vacuum. This thing has great suction. I had just vacuumed the day before I got it, then vacuumed again when I got this new one. It picked up so much dust (and dog hair) out of the carpet I was shocked. It is definitely heavier and a little more bulky than my previous vacuum, but it is just a matter of getting used to it. The headlight works great, and I didn't notice until today (I'm a couple of weeks in on this thing) that the part that you detach to use the hose (with attachments) has a light as well - that's pretty awesome. The roller has not had any hair wrapped around it. It did have a string that it sucked up from somewhere, but that was easily removed by using the handy hatch that sits above the roller (no need to turn this thing over to clean it). The control buttons are on the handle, up high where they are easily accessed with your thumb- the power button, and the adjustment button. All the things that detach/reattach (the hose, the wand, and the canister) are much better on this model than the last one, except the canister is heavier and take a second to get it on the tracks to remount it. The cord is a little longer than my other Shark, but both were absolutely sufficient and longer than cords on other vacuums I have owned. Would be nice if it was retractable - not sure Shark has a model that does that. Works well on hard floors, but would go with a lighter, more agile model if that's what I needed it for; I'm a broom and dustpan kind of person, so no big deal there. If you are vacuuming area rugs, you will need to have someone stand on one end, because it will suck the whole thing up (or get acrobatically creative and do it alone). The area in which the vacuum is a bit lacking would be the hose, when using attachments, is so short, but I don't know how this might be fixed. Two attachments ride on the vacuum, but one of them gets knocked off easy because it sticks out away from the vacuum some. The attachments work find, but seem cheap compared to my previous Shark. The lift a canister is heavy when holding it (detached from the vacuum). I had gone around the house sucking cobwebs out of corners and near the ceiling so there was a lot of moving around - this thing will give you a work out. My other Shark came with a base with wheels that you could set the canister on and it would roll behind you - wish this one had that option. Someone in another review mention that the cord holder thing that keeps the cord up off the ground while you vacuum didn't work well - that's true. It gets knocked out of there pretty easy. It may have been the same review that someone also mention that the deal that holds the hose (like a ball into a joint) doesn't work well. I've only knocked it loose once. The first time I used this vacuum, I noticed it doesn't really "fluff" the carpet up as well as my other Shark - I think it must have something to do with the hair free roller - I miss the stripes in the carpet. I would recommend buying extra filters so that when you wash them out, you can alternate while the ones that were just cleaned dry out. None of the less attractive things mentioned above is a deal breaker. This vacuum does the job.

I started with a Shark Professional and loved it. My favorite thing was that I could take it apart and wash everything, except the motor, of course. It was a hard choice to find our new vacuum. I was open to trying other brands so we went to all of the box stores, pulled vacuums off the shelves, handled them all, pushed them around, read what attachments were included, and read every negative 1 and 2 star review online. I settled on the Shark Apex because it seemed to fit our family's needs and ignored the negatives. I am happy to say the positives outweighed the negatives on this Shark! We have 6 cats and a dog and a commercial laundry, linen business at our home and have to vacuum everyday to control the hair and lint. This vacuum is heavier than any other I have used because it has the biggest motor. Suction is unbelievable, the lift away makes it possible to get under beds, sofas, and shelving. The 2 brushes work together and are so much better on my concrete & wood floors than any other vacuum I have used. It definitely pulls in any spilled cat litter, sand, and fine particles where other vacuums, including my Shark Professional would scatter it unless you used a broom first. The self-clean brush does keep the pet hair from tangling around the brush 97% of the time, we know nothing is 100%. The best news is in that 3% when something gets sucked in, did I say this has great suction power, it is easy to get to the bushes and clean them. The ease of taking apart of the entire vacuum and cleaning the brushes, hoses, canister, and attachments can't be found in any other vacuum we tried out. The ability to wash the vacuum parts was one of our top priorities with pets since no one really wants the animal smell or the nasty to linger or be spread to other areas of your home or business. The ease of disinfecting a vacuum was never a consideration or something I thought was possible until I got my first Shark. You will need to get used to the pivot of the vacuum, it doesn't turn like those uprights that everyone is used to. This one is heavier than others but it has the highest suction and will pick up almost anything. It is also a pretty quiet machine, it doesn't scream and you can actually hear what's going on around you when you're working. The pet attachment wasn't what I expected, it appeared on the ad that it was electric and plugged into the handle. It isn't, it runs by air, the same as the rest of the brushes. There are no belts to ever replace in a Shark, when you use the attachments the handle also has a light to help you see what needs cleaned. I definitely recommend the Shark Apex. After I purchased, it appears that it is also in a recommendation of consumer reports.

We have hardwood throughout our home, 2 dogs (one is a snowstorm of a shedder), and two cats. We had been using a combination of a "normal" everyday Hoover, a Dyson cordless stick (very good), rubber rake, and Swiffer to try and keep up with hair, dander, dirty dust that constantly looks as though we haven't cleaned in weeks (just 24 hours after a cleaning). The goal was to consolidate down to a single, versatile tool if possible. The Hoover just blows the hair on the floor around before it could ever pick it up, so almost useless. The Dyson (we like it a lot mind you) picks up the pet hair and CRAZY amounts of fine stuff, but can't pick up the most routine, everday debris if it's bigger than a cookie crumb (and it hadn't better be big cookie crumb...). The Dyson also struggles with clogs, longevity, and a real loss of suction effectiveness with it's non-motorized attachments. The rubber rake is a terrific way to do a quick sweep, but it leaves a lot of dust behind (aaaaand that's where the Swiffer comes in). Funny thing is, we end up a VERY sizable with a pile of hair/debris, and it would be great to finish that off with a vaccum, one blows the pile to the ceiling and the other clogs immediately. After watching several vids on YouTube (pos and neg), a couple Vacuum Wars (super thorough) review/comparisons had me convinced the Shark Apex Duo w/ZeroM was worth a try. Amazon had it for $100 off this week, so we gave it a shot. Put it together last night in 5 mins, read the warnings, got started. FANTASTICO! Played around with it open areas for a couple of minutes to get the feel of it, and the floors looked cleaned and dusted (thanks to the soft roller). Then on a lark I took it a raked pile of hair/debris and gave it a shot: Sucked that whole mess up like it was nothing. I went slow and careful, but I didn't have to go over the area twice. Have to say I laughed a little at how easily it happened. Stuff I had marked as concerns based on reviews I saw/read: Weight - I don't have an issue with it, and neither does my 5 foot wife. The thing glides on the newer rubber rollers Shark added. So, as long as they hold up (I under stand there used to be hard plastic wheels that ground down with use), we're good. Manueverability - It has a twist steer setup that is nice and smooth, but it does take a little getting used to. A little heavyish. Think family minivan, not F1 race car. Don't rush, don't take your corners too fast. Smooooooth though! Hose range for wand - I saw a couple of complaints about this, but if you pop off the canister to walk around with, I don't see the issue. Cord Clip - I saw complaints about "no cord clip" A LOT reviews...There's a freakin cord clip built right into the piece where you wrap the cord. Not sure how you can miss that... Versatility - Call me crazy, but I read directions. Be aware of the operative warnings and take a minute check out each "release" button. I found it really easy to pop the canister and wand off the base to do my stairs, baseboards, ceiling corners, and then put it all back together again. Also, popping the dust cup off and emptying was a cinch (easier than the Dyson!). I can see giving the dust cup a simple clean water rinse once a week to keep it from looking cruddy. I'll likely do another update (with a PILE of fur) after a few weeks or months, I'm not usually a review writer kind of a guy, but I was really impressed right away. Thought maybe my experience might help someone else who has paralysis by analysis like I usually do.

Pros 1 - its a powerful unit and it picks up a lot of stuff. To me this is the most important. The secondary roller works better than I though it would. 2 - unlike some reviews its quit running at 53 dB (my wet/dry cav runs at 102). 3 - filtration system is pretty good and easy to replace. 4 - light is very bright. 5 - easy to change from upright to canister to wand. So you can go to floor, to under stuff, to cleaning around windows with ease. 6 - emptying cancanister is easy. Ok the not as great (aka annoying) 1 - with the canister attached, its very hard to turn. I found taking off and holding the canister worked best. Plus this way, you can vacuum the floor and under stuff without changing anything. I guess that's a Pro not a con. 2 - if you have retracted the cord then empty the canister, its really a pain to reinstall the canister because the cord is in the way! Solution, always dump the canister before winding up the cord. 3 - in canister mode the attachments fall off. They bump into you leg or what ever and they all fall off. 4 - it will be interesting to see if the plastic connections (buttons) hold up. There is a connection for handle to staff, staff to brush roller, button to release the container from vacume, canister to trash bucket, button to empty debris, button for filter, button to get to the rollers and a hose to container connection. If any of these buttons/snap-on break, this product goes from 5 stars to zero stars! I'm crossing my fingers. Currently I think its great.

For Apex DuroClean Powered Lift Away AZ1002 T4 For the last 6 years, our old Shark Vacuum worked well. A great use & selling point was the ability to reconfigure the machine for different vacuum tasks. This is done without tools with snap fittings and these still work perfectly on the old vac. The old vacuum's power rotator floor head still works but the corrugated flex hose that attached to the power section failed. This part is not user replaceable. Shark wanted $118.00 plus shipping to replace the whole floor power head. Since the machine was 6 years old we decided to up grade to a new model. With a new warranty. The machine came on time and was undamaged and well packed. Since this Shark vacuum was similar to our old vacuum, I was easy to assemble. It has the same snap connections that we loved in the old machine. When first assembled the new vac would not start. Re connecting the components solved the problem but we had continuing issues with the power. After trouble shooting the vac, we found the snap connection from the power module to the hose wand was the issue. In less than two weeks ownership this snap connection became harder and harder to "snap" in. It appeared to us the issue might be the plastic fitting was warped or otherwise misformed. To get a good secure fit [and get connectivity and power], we had to exert a great amount of force, then push the rocker tab down to get the desired click. My wife did not have the strength to do so. The Shark vac had arrived less than 2 weeks ago. Called Shark/Ninja customer service. Did a video chat, allowing the tech to see the issue. Neither the agent nor us could really figure out why it was so hard to click connect nor which plastic part was the culprit. The tech stated she would send the wand handle section [this part has the on / off switch] but neither of us was sure this would fix the issue. Shark never offered to replace the machine. I agreed to accept the replacement I wanted to make sure the other part of the connection- the power module would be sent if this didn't solve the issue. Then I was told the replacement part would cost me $89.00 plus shipping. I refused to pay and after more conversation, the agent offered a 50% discount and finally offered to sent free it if I paid for the shipping. This on a vacuum that was taken out the box less than two weeks earlier. Take heed, the "Limited" warranty is not worth the paper it was printed on. Since we were still in the return window, Amazon has agreed to take the product back and has issued a label for shipping. They will also credit my account upon acceptance of the Shark Vacuum. Compre mi aspiradora el 18 de Feb, es una aspiradora bastante grande y pesada lo cual dificulta aspirar debajo de la cama. Al día de hoy 28 de Mayo ya no prende. La marca aunque tiene 5 años de garantía no te lo hace valido, contrate el servicio de garantía extendida de Amazon y tampoco me quieren hacer válido la garantia por lo que fue dinero a la basura.

Update 9 months Update 9 months. Couldn’t be happier now that I’ve used this for a long time. My husky mix sheds like crazy on a dark carpet. This is the best at picking up dog fur!!! Love the lights on the wand - can see fur in all the hidden places. Anyway, I don’t think you can go wrong with it. Update 3 months. Was working fine. I was starting to really like it. Then the brush rollers stopped working. The led lights were flashing and the power button was green. Looked it up online and many comments about the problem. I tried cleaning the wand connectors as suggested but did not work. Called Shark customer service. They did a video call and confirmed the problem. Said I needed a new roller unit but it was not covered under the warranty. Only the motor was covered. What? 3 months? When I balked they agreed to a “one time special” to send another replacement but I’d have to pay shipping. I balked again so they agreed to pay shipping. The point is why is this an issue (as reported by others as well) and why is the WHOLE vacuum not covered for a year?!!! Original. Was not quite as powerful as I thought when using it on carpet. For example I don’t see the lines as clearly as I did with my old one. However I do like it and I love the features that allow you to lift away the canister and wand (note the hose is kind of short and pulls the rest over if you pull too much). I like the tilting mechanism when using to go left or right but find it is difficult for my wrist to turn it easily. I need my other hand to help. Maybe if my arm was stronger this wouldn’t be an issue. Overall I’m happy.

Great vacuum and picks up a lot of dust my old vacuum didn't. It is a little heavy and maneuvering can be a bit heavy in some cases and there could be a few other attachments that don't come with this but normality come with other vacuums. However the performance of so good that have to give it a 5 star review.
