Love it!
Bought this for my brother, and he loves the larger print. It also has more entries than his old dictionary.

Like the large print and dark font
I purchased this large dictionary for homeschooling my 6th grader. Just so you know, the book is heavy. Its not too heavy, as in lifting weights at the gym (sarcasm), but heavy enough that it would be cumbersome to pick up if you have arthritis. Therefore, if you dislike lifting heavy books, don't buy this dictionary. If, on the other hand, you don't mind a little heaviness, then you may like this book. The print is so incredibly easy to read, which is why I purchased it. The font is nice and large, and the print is perfectly dark black, the way I like it. It's user-friendly for kids, and makes words easy to find. My 6th grader was easily able to navigate through this dictionary without difficulty and locate words quickly. Yes, I would recommend this dictionary.

It's not unabridged, but it won't insult your daily vocabulary/dictionary needs.
This dictionary is exactly what I needed... more complete than many of the 20,000 - word "large print" being offered today, yet very affordable. It is hard-backed; a real "use it for years" reference book. It is printed on a much better grade of paper than the bargain models (the ones that feel a bit like fine sandpaper to the touch). You can lay this book down open to any page and it stays open! This volume is a bit too much of a load to carry around with you. But if you are looking for a good desk-reference dictionary, or one for home use to check spelling or proper useage, and you require larger print; I believe this will suit your purposes. It's also a great mental exercise once in awhile to use a dictionary rather than just a spell-check.

What's important to know?
The print is of a readable size for seniors and others of diminishing eyesight. One of the problems for publishing in larger type face is that it reduces the number of entries that will fit in a manageable size volume (9"x11"x 21/2"). Thus, this dictionary which is excellent in every other regard, has about the same number of entries as a much smaller dictionary of standard size type. This leads to a contradiction: most people as they age and favor large-print books also tend to have larger vocabularies. Hence they only need a dictionary for less frequently used words. I discovered the disconnect when reading a novel by Edith Wharton. If you remember her, she was a brilliant writer, but tended to a flowing, elegant and perhaps pedantic style. The first words for which I turned to Webster's New World Large Print Dictionary for a definition were from Miss Wharton's writing. Alas, the words were not to be found. Yes, today we tend to use more basic English. That is not the fault of the large print dictionary, but it is a loss for fans of elegant English. The OED (Oxford English Dictionary) requires many volumes. Just imagine how big it would be in large print!

Works for me!
Was surprised this book was so big and heavy. Guess it needs to be for large print of over 60,000 entries. So far I'm enjoying the "right to the point" definitions. I would recommend this for a large print dictionary to anyone. I know lots of people don't use dictionaries anymore when they have computers but for those who like a dictionary, it's a great buy.

A GREAT HELP!!!!
This is the first dictionary I have bought since the 8th grade and that was 54 years ago.My eyes aren't as good as they use to be. Getting the large type dictionary is what I really needed The type is large and clear and it is very easy for me to read even with one eye working. I still have the old one, it has a special place on my book shelf.

Great for people with failing vision.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT -- you know your getting old when you can't read the dictionary you used in university but this one is great. Very easy to find what your looking for and if you need more in-depth info you can go into the computer (which I'm not too good at) and research more. Would recommend to anyone who's vision is failing.
