Edgar Allan Poe's Spirits of the Dead Hardcover – October 14, 2014

The master of illustrated horror at his very best! Corben is unmatched when it comes to graveyards, rotting corpses and collapsing castles. If you have ever enjoyed Corben's unique illustration style and use of cinematic techniques, this book has all that in spades. The main improvement here is the coloring. With the assistance of Donna Corben, the coloring doesn't suffer from being overly dark or bathed in purples, which can happen when Corben handles the coloring alone. He is certainly in his element here and doing some of his very best work. It is nice to see an artist get better as he ages. Along with Crumb, Burns, and Deitch, Corben's best work is being done right now. At under 20 bucks for a full cover hardcover, the book is also a bargain. Thank you Dark Horse! And just in time for Halloween.

I've always been a big fan of Richard Corben. His style art seems suited perfectly for these Poe adaptions. Now I couldn't imagine any other artist adapt a Poe story, for that matter an H.P. Lovecraft story either.

I, am really into Edgar Allen Poe, so I did enjoyed the graphic novel with all the stories that I had read before only this time there were pictures to look at.

Corben is fantastic. Always looked fwd to his work in the undergrounds and beyond. These stories were a little dry in places butthe art made up for that.

La mejor obra de Corben de los últimos años, lo cual ya es decir mucho, porque este autor va mejorando con el tiempo. Aquí Corben se mueve en su mejor elemento: casas encantadas, apariciones, cementerios, niebla, ... y sobre todo Edgar Allan Poe. Contiene la enésima adaptación de 'The Raven', junto con otras nuevas adaptaciones de obras que ya había dibujado anteriormente. Pero en esta ocasión las versiones tienen un toque más mórbido, y en alguna ocasión más gore. El color es muy acertado y ayuda a crear esa atmósfera enfermiza. No cabe duda de que esta obra, dada su calidad, no tardará en publicarse en español. Yo no he podido esperar. Muy buena edición.

Espectacular nueva obra del maestro Corben. Nadando como pez en el agua en su río favorito, Edgar Allan Poe. Si te gusta Mr. Corben y las historias góticas... no lo dudes.

Richard Corben is a great artist and his stories in this book are superb. But the small edition of Dark Horse is not at the level that would be necessary. Almost need a magnifying glass to admire the Corben drawings.

This is quIck read; but is haunting and bittersweet. Recommended.

This was purchased as a gift for my Dad for Christmas. He commented it was Corben at his best and is very happy with the graphic novel.
