Lixit Igloos and Hideaways for Guinea Pigs, Rats, Mice, Hamsters, Gerbils and Other Small Animals (Assorted, Medium)

I bought this for my 2 rats. This would NOT be big enough for a guinea pig. Maybe a baby guinea pig, but they would have to back into it or back out of it and I don't think guinea pigs are good at parking their rumps.My two female rats fit into it nicely. I love the air holes. I have a wooden hut that is starting to smell, it is not fun to clean. I wanted to get this igloo since it has a cleanable bottom and some ventilation, as well as some privacy. I moved the wooden hut to the bottom of their cage, and put this lixit igloo where their wooden hut use to be. They are not fazed by the transition and use it happily. The next day my rats were shoving nesting material into it, so this is a win and I would totally buy it again. And it was waaaaay cheaper than the wooden hut! Easy to clean and take apart. And I actually put a piece of pvc pipe in there and closed the igloo around it, fits great and doesn't move! Now they can tunnel into their igloo.

I purchased this for our rats a while back. At first I was against the plastic because I thought they would try to eat it, so I had bought them soft hammocks, which they tore apart real fast. I decided to try this, and another similar product, with better luck. They love it, and I love that they are easy to clean. It's kind of hard to get the two pieces back together, but the plastic is very durable.

Update: the guinea pigs chewed the bottom, half of these so bad it left points where it connected to the top. You know how spoofy piggies are. When one of them got the zoomies she gashed her side before I caught it. She’s fine, but it cost me a vet visit. I no longer use them.These are so good I bought two of them twice. I now have a total of four, one for each piggie. I bought the larger size and my daughter’s biggest, chubbiest pig easily fits in this and she has room to turn around. All 4 piggies are adults, for reference. These huts take up much less room in the cage than the typical round igloos. I had no problem, snapping them together. If I have to find a complaint, the sticker on top does not want to come off without leaving a paper trail. We like these because they’re plastic and they have a bottom. Any pig parent knows that piggies resting in their hidey hut will do their business right then and there. This bottom saves us from having to change the mat and the entire cage. We just line the bottom with a puppy pee pad cut to fit and a cut piece of fleece (not really needed) and that is all that gets changed on a daily basis. These combined with Tractor Supply kiln dried pine pellets, better known as horse bedding, has made a huge difference. There is zero piggy smell in my daughter’s room now. It is a significant cost saving as well. Tip, put the pellets in a pan so that the piggies can stand in it while they’re eating. The spent pellets turn to dust and you only scoop that out. That doesn’t even smell. Believe me, we have tried everything. This combo is the secret sauce. Love these.

Easy to clean. Looks nice. Little air holes on the side for ventilation. Front door is large but my rats wanted a side door too and made one. I will be getting wood next time. Not good for rats.

So I bought this for my rats and them being rats means that they chew EVERYTHING and pee EVERYWHERE which the chewing is fine in most cases but the peeing this the main problem they’ve had multiple wooden houses in the past that will spell so bad and take forever to clean. So I decided I wanted a plastic house that would be easy to clean this came up it happened to be the same brand of their space pods that they also love so I figured it should at least be good quality. And it is it’s so easy to clean especially since it breaks into to parts, now that is amazing it also is a pain to put together over time it’s gotten easier but the first time I definitely contemplated if it was going to fit together. It did and and they love it it did take a little for them to warm up to it but now anytime I walk past their cage I see at least a few in there. So in all definitely worth the purchase and would buy again.

My rats love it. Stuff with newspaper or paper towel for warmth.

Even though this has good reviews, I wasn't expecting it to be anything special. Fortunately my two ratty boys think it is - I got one for each of them and they absolutely love them. They immediately started stuffing them with their bedding and they haven't come out much since, except to stick their heads out to accept my gifts of peas before slamming the door (well, technically, pushing the toilet paper entrance closed) in my face and occasionally allowing me to stick my hand inside for scritches and to ensure everyone is still alive and well in there. They love the little air holes on the side because they can inspect who is coming to call and what gifts are in hand before deciding whether to come to the door. They can also receive said gifts through those window holes without letting in cold air by opening the front.I love the fact that the plastic is thick enough to provide insulation from the cold (with bedding in there, it's nice and cozy warm). Prior to this I've been using cardboard boxes because they like them, but they don't provide great insulation from the cold and, although we have heaters running, we live in a snowy winter climate, so it still gets a little chilly at night. It's also much easier to clean this house than it is to find & replace cardboard boxes every week. Thankfully, as soon as I put these in their cage, my boys abandoned their cardboard houses and haven't looked back.This little house is actually big enough for 2 or 3 full grown male rats (I've got 2: one standard size and the other is a behemoth; he's an Agouti who's literally twice as big as his cage mate). I got two of these and I'll probably get one more for the bottom level of their DCN cage. Highly recommend.

I have two adult rats and they fit well in this together. It comes apart so you can easily wash the inside, and then snaps back together. I haven’t had any problem with them trying to chew on it. It’s rather large so make sure you have a good place to put it in their cage.

Bought this guinea pig size for an adult rat. It’s the perfect size & my rats love it. I bought two of them, & they use them all the time. They always stuff their blankies inside them & cover the entrance. They were easy to snap together & they stay together in spite of the rough housing the rats do. Also easy to clean when needed. Love the two tone color also. So glad I purchased these.

I got a couple of igloos to put in my triple critter nation for my 4 rats. It is well made and I had no problems putting it together. My rats love to sleep in it along with their lixit space pods.

My 3 rats really love this addition in the cage.. Its a really good size and easy to clean.
