Great for persistent funky cat breath AND poor drinking habits!
I admit it, I was skeptical of this product, but I was also desperate. My cat (who, as I have said in many other reviews, is an embarrassment to his species in terms of intelligence) has had bad breath for years because he doesn't chew dry food. Even those expensive treats meant to reduce plaque/odor go straight down the hatch, never touching a tooth. I eventually tried supplementing with wet food, which helped for a while before all sorts of oral bacteria got the memo and moved in, just making it worse. Did I mention that he's a Russian Blue mix and has those cute Siamese traits like licking EVERYTHING? So not only did the furry demon child smell like throat fungus, now so did my hands and everything in my house. "Tartar treats" didn't work. I wasn't going to brush his teeth, because I value my life. Dental Fresh was my last resort. Figuring it was worth a try, I decided to order a bottle and pray. After all, this cat grew up on stagnant rainwater; surely, at least he couldn't mind it much. The first thing I noticed was that his water was disappearing much more quickly than normal, as well as staying clean longer - no more scum and dirt in the bottom of the bowl. Cats have a notoriously low thirst drive, and he drinks so much more with the added Dental Fresh that I think the extra water is helping in and of itself. It did take a couple of weeks to get results on the odor front, but have a little patience. It's worth the wait. After almost three weeks, kitty's breath is back to a much more reasonable level, and he doesn't leave everything he licks smelling like death itself. Dental Fresh is now a staple in my house, and we're both happier for it. Thanks, SynergyLabs!

whiter teeth .....better breath
ok, i had a lot of trouble making myself buy this....i love, love, my fur baby and the very thought i would do something to make her sick just made me sick !!......so i decided on a plan and for those w/intolerant triers of this product i urge you to try this....i have two gravity water stations and one auto fountain....so i used only half of this product and more water than was indicated that you can use....my cat does not ever throw up...so this has to be something that wouldn't have me mopping up the mess.....first day: she drank from all three fountains (she's a diva)....and then i didn't add any more for a few days.....today i drained all the water from the three fountains...increased the amount of treatment to 3/4 what's recommended....so far so good... oh, my diva is six but an Asian breed so they have notoriously bad teeth !!....she doesn't have bad breath before i started this so hopefully this is in lieu of having to have her going to the vet and getting her teeth cleaned for a couple of more years....i am impressed...very glad she seems to be tolerating this well, and i actually think her teeth are a little whiter already....so for me and the diva...it seems to be working....thanks for this product....we love our pets (diva or not)....so this makes us happy !!!

Great product, terrible packaging
Our cat had some very serious oral care issues when we got her, she was a rescue, and actually had to have most of her teeth extracted but not all. At the suggestion of the vet we started using this and it's worked beautifully. Fortunately we were able to save the rest of her teeth by its use. Hooray! HOWEVER (note the caps) The packaging is horrible! It is overly secured to a crazy extent, for whatever reasons I can't imagine. It has always taken a sharp exacto knife and channel lock pliers to get a new bottle of it opened. If the manufacturer would change this my review would certainly be five stars instead of four, but this is a frustratingly serious oversight on their part.

Cat approved
I bought this and some minties treats for Elvira. It doesn't seem to have any scent and is clear. She doesn't drink a lot of water, as we give her moist food. But she does seem to want the water refreshed, where I didn't notice that before. It doesn't come with specific use instructions, other than "consult your vet". So that's not terribly helpful. But I have a 4.5cup container for the water and I add about half a capful. Seems to work. It is inefficient bc she does not drink even a cup of it before she's wanting fresh water. Now, she has been know to drink foul fowl-water (had ducks& other outdoor water), so it must be perceptible to her. So that's my only issue with it, the appropriate use rate. Bc it seemed to be being used up to quickly, I stopped use of it to see he reaction. She seems to drink a bit less water. Idk if that is linked to her diet (bc she's being finicky about the wet foods lately), time inside, or the lack of the breath freshener product. (She does still beg for the minties. Imagine a cat worried about her breath. Lol) But definitely worth the purchase, I believe. I would go 4.5 stars for the lack of real instruction, if it were possible.

Works ok, not great for plaque
I would have given this 4 or 5 stars if I had nothing to compare it to but I've used products that work a bit better. I was using tropiclean gel and it worked really well for removing plaque (with brushing and scraping) and pretty well for breath. I decided to switch to this because I got most of the plaque and the gel was a pain to use. It seems to be working well for gingivitis but after about 3 weeks it seems like there is still some plaque (possibly even still building up). It does okay for freshening breath but the gel worked better. On the bottle it also claims there is no smell, there is definitely a pretty strong chemical smell that stays on your hands. I'm not certain but I'm also pretty sure this may have made my dog throw up after drinking it (he has a week stomach). Pros: -Works well for gingivitis -Does okay at freshening breath -Pretty easy to use -Keeps bowl clean and slime free Cons: -Doesn't seem to work great for plaque -Strong chemical smell -May have made my dog puke when he got in the cat's water (he has a weak stomach, only eats one type of food) Overall I'd recommend this only as 'maintenance'. If you need plaque removal I'd suggest gels plus brushing. I'd also be concerned about using this long term because of the chemicals and the smell.

Really does help cats' breath
Cats' breath is better after adding this to their water bowl and they do not seem to mind it.

Jury's Out...
I've only just received this product a few days ago, so I can't comment on if it'll actually clean my cat's teeth, or not, but I wanted to do a first impressions review. For starters, an 8 ounce bottle, is very small. To get a better idea, it's half the size of a 16 ounce bottle of drinking water. So, if you want to be able to use it regularly, it's going to get expensive. Secondly, they claim it's "flavorless", yeah, that's a lie, lol. Have you tried it? I try everything that I give them (except wet food), and this stuff tastes like hydrogen peroxide, or getting a little bit of extremely diluted, chlorinated pool water in your mouth. Mostly, peroxide. I actually feel like I spent almost $10 on a tiny bottle of peroxide. They recommend one teaspoon per every 8 ounces of water. This is the ratio that I taste tested, and like I said, it tastes like peroxide. Peroxide mixed in aloe water, is a better description, I think. If I were an animal, I wouldn't want to drink this. As a human, I would not like drinking this. That's risky business because you're either facing them not drinking water, not drinking enough water, or you're in a situation where you're having to put out multiple servings of water, some treated, some not, and just hoping they drink the treated water. In which case, why even bother, because no animal would willingly choose this, over plain, fresh water. I could see a decent amount of dogs falling for this, but cats are so finicky, I just doubt mine will get enough of this product, for it to be beneficial. We shall see. Again, this is just my initial impression. Update: I started adding the recommended teaspoon to more than 8 ounces of water, because I noticed my cats weren't drinking as much water as usual. Regardless, it began making my cats throw up, and they also suffered from diarrhea. All within a week of using this product. Long story short, it was a waste of money.

Helped a bit
Been using this in my cats water bowl for a few weeks now & although they've still got smelly breath, it's definitely not as bad as it was, so it has hoedown somewhat.

Not even a week and there's a great improvement!
I tried other brands that didn't really work but after a few days of this I see a huge improvement it's amazing. And my cat still drinks the water, it doesn't bother him

Great Solution for Cat Dental Hygiene
Honestly couldn't be more happy with this product, super easy to follow instructions and the cats don't even notice a difference, helps me keep up their dental hygiene because they hate getting their teeth brushed.
