Got here ahead of schedule
Holster was exactly what I needed for emergency bag. It secures the Ruger .22 and provides padding for it as well as the other items in the pack. Then it can be pulled out of the bag if you get stranded and attached to your waistline.

the gun doesn't go down in the case like i thought it would but it should be ok
