Great for traveling!
I have purchased solar chargers before, but many didn't work as expected. The Solar leather lighted cover worked as intended.I now have the cover left on the window sill to charge, and no more fiddling with power adapters. This would be ideal when traveling, as I would have one less charger and adapter to worry about.Improvements that I can suggest:- It does add thickness and weight to the Kindle. I'm sure that future versions will be smaller, however I bought the Kindle 4 for it's small and slim size.- Hard to remove from holder. Once the kindle is attached to the cover, it fits great, but removing isn't very easy. When I travel and want to read, I'd prefer to remove the kindle from the cover for the mobility.Overall, I am very happy with the product.

Does what it says
I've only had this cover for two weeks but it seems to work quite well. The cover is a little bulky, about 3/4" thick, it makes the Kindle the size of a normal paperback book. The kindle fits snugly in the case and can be a pain to take out, a butter knife will pop it out with no damage. When I got the case I fully charged it with my USB cable like the directions stated and that has been the last time the cords been used. I live in Las Vegas so we have plentiful sunshine. I put the Kindle in the window sill when I go to work and that's all the sunshine it gets. It did take about 3 days worth of charging to get back to a full charge after I drained the cover battery to below 30%. But I was using it a lot during that time. The only thing I had to be careful about was that if it was in the window sill with the window closed the cover got pretty hot. I remedied that by cracking the window open so some cool air blew on the case. Their are only two couple of things I'd change about the cover.1) I would like to be able to dim the reading light. I have a 2 week old daughter and when I'm rocking her to sleep at night the light it pretty powerful, i put a piece of scotch tape over it to dim it.2) To tell the cover battery charge level the cover LED light goes from Green-Orange-Red. Orange and red look a little to much alike, at a glance you might think it one was the other. A charge indicator that was a little more precise would be nice. Whether it was a LCD screen with a percentage or maybe bars like on your cell phone signal strength. The orange covers 30%-80% charge level, so mine is usually always orange.I bought this cover because I'm in the military and go places where electricity isn't always reliable. It will never lower your power bill enough to pay for itself, but it's nice to be able to put one power cord in a drawer and forget about it. If I had to do it all over again, I'd still buy this cover. I like it.

Solar Lighted Cover for Kindle 4
Had the Solar Lighted Cover for Kindle 4 for almost 2 months now. Charged the cover via the computer when I first got it.Love the cover it protects my Kindle, as it should and looks good. The built in light works and is great for reading in low light situations.Great to be able to charge the Kindle from the cover battery, to extend my reading time.I just haven't been able to work out if the solar is working properly. I leave it out in the sun and the charging light is flickering, but the red low battery light never becomes green.Maybe I'm not leaving it out in the sun enough, I don't want the Kindle to cook.

Solar Kindle Cover
I've had this case for about 2 months now and feel I can fully comment about it. The case itself is very sturdy, I was a little concerned the build quality would be poor but that is not the case. It does add a little extra size to the Kindle 4, which I bought to replace my Kindle Keyboard because it was much smaller, but I don't find myself removing it from the case to use. The added weight is also not an issue, it is very comfortable to hold. The Kindle fits very snugly into the case, it is not going to fall out, even if you dropped it.The battery life for the light is quite long and lasted almost a month when using it for a couple hours a day. The ability to use the internal battery to charge the kindle is nice and works very well. The only feature I haven't tried is to charge the Kindle and the internal battery at the same time. For the additional $20 it costs over a standard lighted cover the ability to use the light without draining the Kindle's battery and the ability to charge the Kindle and the case's internal battery using solar power is worth the additional money. I'm hoping that I will never have to plug my Kindle into a wall charger as long as I have and with this I should be able accomplish that.It is nice to see in the description of the product that are working on models to fit the other Kindles, because since I have gotten this the first question everyone asks after they see it is "Do they make one for my Kindle?".

Heavy and not very durable.
I've been using this for a few months now.I underestimated how big this thing really is - it turns my svelte Kindle 4 into Goliath. The solar function works as advertised, which would be great for independence from power sources when travelling and camping, but it has failed. The problem is, the panel is connected to the body of the device with a thin fabric flap with (I presume) the wires for the solar panel running through it. Mine seems to have failed somewhere in this part of the device - it will only charge if I wiggle the panel a little bit so there must be a faulty connection in there somewhere. This design just seems inherently weak.I've contacted SK tech support but they don't speak english very well and it's such a pain in the **** to have to pay for postage, wait for weeks to get a replacement etc that I might just try fixing it myself.I wouldn't buy it again in retrospect.

I like the light.
I really like the light. The only downside is the weight of the Kindle and cover/protector in bed, but I'm getting used to it.

Simple to install, easy to use
Before I left for Haiti, I loaded up the Kindle with books. The solar charger was simple to install, and quickly charged up in the sun. My only complaint was that the directions were only in English, and the teachers in Haiti for whom I bought the Kindle spoke French. I'll probably take another solar powered Kindle on my next trip.

Works well did not arrive in time
Was supposed to arrive within 24 hours. It was to be a birthday present but took so long to arrive it missed the birthday - so give plenty of time. It is compact, protects the Kindle has a convenient light and seems to work well although the battery did eventually run down and needed to be charged conventionally.
