The 8-eye Shriver Hi is packed with rugged features: a commando tread, an extra-empowering platform sole with a chunky heel and a sleek silhouette. The result: a women's boot that strikes the perfect balance between femininity and the tough, rebellious Dr. Martens spirit. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole.

True to size in my case!
I originally sized down due to the many reviews advising to do so, and the fit was a bit too snug for me. Ordered my typical size of 8, and with an insert for my high arches, they are a perfect fit. I also added some ball-of-feet gel inserts since these heels do have a small rise to them, and when that occurs, more pressure is put on the ball of your foot. The Wonder Balsam has been an incredible investment for softening the leather up- do yourself a favor a get a can! Use it on the leather inside of the boot as well as the outside. It keeps the leather hydrated and helps it to break in faster. The laces were a tad too short for my liking, so I ordered the classic yellow doc boot laces, and they fit with length to spare.I wasn't used to walking in platforms OR heels before purchasing these, but the price was so good, I didn't want to pass them up. They are a bit heavy and do have a heel, but I am surprised at how quickly I've gotten used to them. These are great if you want to add some height and intimidation factor to your life! đ

Who doesnât love a pair of Dr. Martinâs boots!?!?
Great price, nice boot. I had a size smaller womenâs 6, and had to accept they were a tad too small after trying to break them in. I decided to try a womenâs 7 and they are a bit too big. I ordered the Dr. Marten inserts and they made the boots a very comfortable fit now. Half sizes would be nice, but Dr. Martens has never done that and most likely never will. Inserts are keeping my feet from sliding forward. I like the platform and heel on these. For the record, my foot measurement is 9 5/8â, most flat shoes Iâm a size 7 womenâs , 6. 1/2 for high heels.

Just get them!
If you're on the fence like I was... get off NOW! These boots are everything I expected them to be and more. 1st let me start by saying they run a lil big but that's OK (especially if you have prime) I wear a 8.5 so I ordered a 9 & they were huge! Sent them back for an 8 and hey fit perfectly. I put these on & literally heard angels singing. It's like walking on air! To look at them you'd expect them to be heavy but they're not. These are my new "any outfit" boots

Order one size down
I would highly recommend going down a size. I wear a 9 and a 8 fit perfect. The boots are very cute and not a lot of breaking in needed. Very comfortable!

Had to return and get bigger size
Ok so I read a lot of the reviews before choosing what size I wanted when I first ordered. My feet are odd, right foot is 8 1/2 and left foot is size 8 or smaller. đ¤ˇđźââď¸ I ordered size 8 in these bc the reviews say to size down not up. Mistake! I put insoles in them, which made them tighter but I need them. After walking around and sitting the top of my feet fell asleep and my toes on my right foot pushed against the inside of the boot. đ I returned size 8 and got size 9. I put my insoles in the new size 9 and I can wiggle my toes. Even room for thicker boot socks. If you are size 8 1/2 like me, plant to put insoles in them and wear boot socksâŚgo for the size 9. You wonât regret it! Donât make my mistake.

Stylish and Sturdy, but Very Stiff
I really love the look of the Dr. Martens Shriver Hi bootsâthe lifted heel gives them a stylish edge that sets them apart from other Docs Iâve owned. They feel sturdy and well-made, and they go with just about everything. The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is the stiffness. Even after multiple wears, theyâre much stiffer than other pairs of Docs Iâve broken in before. Itâs not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you're used to the typical break-in process.Overall, theyâre still a great addition to my wardrobe and Iâm happy with the purchase!
