Will this work with the original gold-bug?

Yes it will. I have it on my gold bug. And it works great all around. I can use it in the parks and the mountains. It works great getting in between rocks.

Will this work with the f5

Texas Premium Detectors...... this should be compatible with the f5 and it does say that right in your main title. can you clear this up>?

What is the purpose of this larger coil....more depth?

Yes, generally the larger the search coil the deeper the machine will detect, with the understanding that the larger the coil the less sensitive the machine will be to smaller targets. So with a small coil you aren't going very deep, but you're seeing smaller pieces of metal. Where as with a larger coil your going deeper, but it might not signal on a very small item, or might read several small items as one larger one.

Deep Detection of small items.

Arrived quickly and fit my Gold Bug perfectly. Detects much deeper than my standard 5" coil. Detected a piece of metal about 1/4 size of a dime at 9". very satisfied with product .Works well! Found a dime size metal button at 8" and a small suspender buckle that says Patent 1855 first time out. Loving it.
