Full of Process Art Inspiration
Mary Ann did a wonderful job creating a resource for families or teachers that can help everyone make the shift form product art to process art! I have already begun gifting copies of this book to others.I disagree with other reviews saying some of these projects are not for young children. There is a difference between risky and dangerous and there are ways to mitigate risks. Obviously, if you're not feeling super confident it is probably best to skip the ideas you think are risky, but I just wanted to put it out there that I have done the "dangerous" activities such as crayon melting with children as young as 3 as a parent and as an early childhood educator.

Brilliant book full of process art ideas
I was excited to receive this new edition in the mail. It is packed full of process art ideas sure to inspire the children in any home, childcare, or classroom. I love the amazing photographs of the young artists creating. I purchased this for myself, but I will definitely be ordering more for gifts.

Great ideas, older children, requires well set up work space!
As I said many very good ideas, but limited useability for young children. Melting crayon or wax is dangerous so so this book is for older primary school age children and supervision is important as well as a set up work area. Safety first, but otherwise good art exploratory ideas. Thank you.

Love it!
I bought this for my son when he as 3.5. We had finished most of the activities in the author's other book, First Art. I love this one just as much as the first, maybe more! There are so many great activities to do with young children. Some are repeats from First Art, but there are also many new activities. I was a little hesitant to buy it, since I already owned the other book. As far as supplies, I have found that once you have done a variety of projects, you have all the supplies on hand. I am very fussy about my house, and we do a TON of art projects. I am amazed at how many other moms I talk to who are afraid of the mess and don't do art. Our carpet is almost white, and we throw down a cheap shower curtain liner under our play table and do the craft. My son wears a long sleeve art bib. The end result - no messes and we have a lot of fun.

Fantasitc creativity sparker
This book is a great set of ideas to spark the creativity of any child, but this will especially be a hit with the younger crowd. The ideas are given without expecting a particular outcome. In fact, it becomes more of a set of materials and how to use them than a specific project. It's perfect for teaching children that any expression of creativity is 'art' and they don't need a picture to be perfect or realistic to be beautiful. I will admit that a great many of the ideas are ones that parents or teachers could come up with on their own, but I suspect anyone who gets this book will find at least one idea they hadn't thought of before.

Not exactly what I wantec
I should have read the description more carefully. I was looking for instructions on how to do scribble art and this is not that at all. This is full of art projects for kids and I will keep it because I have 2 grandkids but I wanted to learn the finer points of scribble art to create my own images.

Best creative ideas in one book
I bought this book for my five and three year old grandchildren, and it has given me endless ideas for keeping the boys busy during the summer holidays. The majority of activities use household articles and take only a few minutes to prepare and it is very well explained, The children love these new ideas and activities, and I am recommending this book to my daughter, she is a special education teacher, and I am sure there are lots of new ideas for her to use at work. A wonderful book

art for young children
In my many, many years of working with kindergarteners and preschool age children I found this to be an excellent source for ideas I could use in the classroom. Some are very simple but very satisfying for the children and for their teacher. This is a great resource, especially for people who don't have an art background but want to get fresh ideas. I highly recommend it.

Great way to learn art techniques without getting caught in ...
Adore her books. Great way to learn art techniques without getting caught in a 'paint by number' mindset.

Love this book about process art! A great resource for ECEs.
This is my favorite book by MaryAnn Kohl to date! I've been an ECE for several years and run a process art program and there were many brand new ideas in here I haven't seen or tried. This is such a great collection of ideas to keep on the shelf to reference when in need of some inspiration. I also really like the layout of the book and the pictures are great at providing an idea of how to set up the materials and/or what to expect. Fantastic book for ECEs, preschool, pre-k, and parents.
