Humidifier Water Valve for Aprilaire 4040 Solenoid Valve 24 Volt Humidifier Models 400, 500, 600, 700, Part No. B2015-S85

Prior to buying this solenoid I was just getting a trickle of water in my humidifier. I've had this Aprilaire 760 in my home for nearly 20 years. While I replaced the water panel every season I had no idea the inlet of the OEM solenoid had a miniature filter. Doh! When I finally picked it out it was destroyed. Also saw a lot of corrosion inside the solenoid. I took apart my old unit and soaked it in CLR for a few hours. Using a pin and a tiny screwdriver I cleaned it out the best I could. Hooking everything back up I still got just a trickle of water to flow through the solenoid. Bought this thing and magic. Look at the video. Amazing. I had forgotten that when the humidifier was working like new, you could actually hear the water flowing through the solenoid, like now. No more itchy skin 👍

This was a field fit for a Honeywell humidifier - not designed to "drop in" as a replacement. Honeywell or other replacements were VERY expensive. Just matched voltage and flow rate specs with some "hammer and tong" effort to install.

Comes with an extra filter but I thought you had to insert it into the inlet valve. My husband had to point out that there was one already in there and this is just an extra. Extra filter looks different than original plastic one. The wires are a little shorter than the original but we were able to connect it. May be more difficult fitting it into a tight space if you have larger hands. Running well. Seems to respond better than ever.

Install was easy and only took about 10 mins. It does come with an extra piece to lock the bolt on in case the old one got stuck on the unit you are replacing.

I replayed my old broken valve with this one and it worked perfectly. Easy to install and it saved me the cost of having a repairman come in to fix my humidifier.

Wasn't sure that this semi-generic valve would work with my humidifier, but after a 10 minute installation, everything is working just fine. Good product. Should've bought two for when this one wears out after a few years.

It's probably not the valve but the repairman (me). I ended up buying a whole new humidifier and it's working now.

This worked as advertised to turn on water flow to my Aprilaire whole house humidifier. The setup and connection was fairly easy and it saved the service call charges from the HVAC company.
