It is stated that the handle is made up of real antlers. I don't know if they are, I can't tell. I'm counting on the integrity of the company to be truthful. If guests express horror in seeing them and mention animal cruelty, I tell them they are plastic, rather than explain that horns are shed naturally and no deer were harmed. In any case, they look very nice in both formal and informal settings.

It took a few weeks for the delivery from England and well worth the wait! The individual character, quality and balance [ let alone razor sharp] of each knife is perfect. Thank you Lee for a great product and we will be ordering more for family gifts soon.

I the knives were nice but I sent a little more to have what I thought was a nice box for a wedding gift but it does not look like the picture.
