MTLE Minnesota Elementary Education (K-6) Teacher Certification Test Prep Study Guide First Edition, New edition

This was an okay book, but really didn't have a lot in common with the MTLE elementary content tests. I just took them today and found the questions to be very different than the sample test in the book. It is good with reviewing the content generally although it has some errors and can be somewhat confusing at times. It's okay if you are looking for something to review without having to get out all of your many books from education classes, but it wasn't exactly what I'd hoped. The MTLE practice tests and study guides on the official website aren't great for studying, though, just for practicing what the exam will be like.

My daughter used this book to prepare for a test to gain her teaching license. Unfortunately, the test is given by a different company that doesn't have a study guide. This book is the next best thing, but they don't work very well together. She has to take the test again.

Somewhat helpful or studying, but the questions on the test are so random that no amount of studying can really prepare you.

If your studding for the MTLE get this book! I studied the book, supplementing with notes from school and other resources for about 3 weeks before the test and I passed! I only needed the book for the Math and Social Studies parts but it really explained things in a easy way to understand! Good luck future teacher!

This study guide does not cover the content on the test. If you were to use this book as your study guide you will fail the test. In addition to it lacking content there are many typos and incomplete information in problem sets.Save yourself the grief and do not waste your time or money on this book.

My daughter used this book to review for MTLE. She easily passed the exam and was pleased with this review book!

It's obvious this wasn't edited for grammar or repetition

I bought this book and the pedagogy version in order to help me study for the MTLE Elementary Education tests. I was dismayed at the amount of errors I found in content--for example, misspelling Henry Sibley as "Henry Simley"--and errors in editing. Words were omitted in several places giving the impression of a bizarre, spontaneous fill-in-the-blank quiz. In the pedagogy practice test she contradicts herself on several questions by giving the right answer but then explaining how another option is actually the better choice.She does give some good information in the books, but is woefully unbalanced in the subjects she chooses to address. She gives several strategies/game options for teaching reading, but says virtually nothing on phonics. In the pedagogy sections she explains little to nothing about teaching philosophies such as Piaget and Bloom's Taxonomy, but discusses how to recognize abused/neglected students in three different places. In one memorable section she repeats the same paragraph twice--word for word.Bottom line: for sixty dollars per book I expected a much better product.
