It’s a beautiful book.
I’ve read a couple of Matt Haig’s adult books and find his words to be inspiring and motivational. His tweets help those of us struggling with depression to speak out and feel less alone. He is a legend in my eyes. When I saw the excitement on Twitter around his latest release, The Truth Pixie, I had to investigate. Although it’s a children’s book I was instantly drawn in by the idea of teaching youngsters to love themselves – something we as adults could also work on.The Truth Pixie shouldn’t be restricted to children! This book is delightful in every way. The illustrations by Chris Mould are stunning and the way the story flows is a joy to read. The Truth Pixie keeps herself hidden away as everything that comes out of her mouth is the truth – and people don’t want to hear the truth. She sees this as a curse and so her only friend is a mouse called Maarta who lives in her hair. She tries to avoid everyone without luck and ends up upsetting a couple of elves, a rabbit and a large troll. The angry troll throws the poor pixie far, far away where she meets a sad little girl, but it’s here that her truth helps rather than hinders. It was at this point I found my favourite page in the book which I’ve since photographed and stuck on my office wall.Don’t forget who you are. You are a fighter. As the dark in the sky makes the stars shine brighter,You will find the bad stuff has good bits too.The bad days are the days that make you you.If you have children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, or just want to entertain your inner child then I highly recommend you get a copy of The Truth Pixie. It’s a beautiful book.

An essential book for people of all ages
I've wanted to write this review ever since I read The Truth Pixie, but I just haven't quite known where to start! The Truth Pixie is such a magical little book that I strongly believe everyone should read (I've bought eight copies as gifts this Christmas!) and it's one that can be enjoyed again and again. To begin with, it's not a daunting read at all. It's tiny. But, for such a small book, it carries so many important messages and provides so much comfort for people going through all sorts of difficulties from anxiety to grief. The description of it being "Reasons To Stay Alive for seven year olds" is not wrong! Then you have the fact that it's beautifully illustrated by Chris Mould. Whilst his illustrations are not my usual type that I would go for, they fit the story and book perfectly.I can't recommend The Truth Pixie enough; whether it's for yourself or as a gift, it's the perfect little book to have.

Funny, heart-warming and life affirming
This fab rhyming story is funny, skilfully written, and beautifully illustrated. Matt has the knack of taking an important message such as learning to love yourself and distilling it into simple phrases that will resonate with young people. There has never been a more relevant time for a book like this to hit the market, and I love the fact that it's been written almost like an early reader, with just a few lines of text on each page so that young children are able to read it independently and, more importantly, understand it. That said, it's a perfect story for sharing too, as I did with my 2 pixies last night. It went down a storm.

Brilliant idea - but.
The content is brilliant but I'd suggest that although it's great for the older Primary age who could understand it; the illustrations are a bit too young to match it.

Lovely
This is a lovely, small hardback book which tells the story of a Truth Pixie, who can only ever tell the truth. It's written as a rhyme and is beautifully illustrated in black and white. Yes, it's short, but it's a joy to read, and the message it puts over is important. Suitable for kids and adults alike, if you're a fan of Matt Haig's writing this is a must for your bookshelf.

Simply beautiful and perfect.
Read this this evening to my nephew and niece, 9 and 7 years old, and they loved the experience, the illustrations, the rhymes and the story and I have ordered some more copies to give out and one for myself as I was immensely moved by the book - after reading we spoke of sadness and the kids revealed things that they had never told anyone and were able to understand things that had happened with new eyes and complete things that had troubled them for the longest time. Perfect. Very highly recommended. My niece fell asleep hugging the book which says it all I feel.

Lovely message
The Truth Pixie can’t help but tell the truth. She finds herself unable to control it and is honest about all the thoughts in her head, even the bad ones. This gets her into trouble with her friends and family leaving her feeling lonely and sad... until she meets Aada. The Truth Pixie changes her perspective and shows Aada that it’s ok to be sad sometimes, and that happy times are just around the corner. There are so many amazing quotes in this book, I will keep some to share with my son when he needs them. This book is full of hope in the face of adversity, of accepting feelings no matter how bad they may seem, and working a way through to find the calm and happy on the other side. There are some really lovely messages in this book that I will read over and over again with my children. The illustrations and changing texts keep them engaged, while the rhyme ensures it still feels like fun while approaching a difficult and emotional subject.
