Bought Direct from Tecovas and not from Amazon
I purchased my boots direct from Tecovas and not Amazon. I'm chosing Amazon to review this purchase as Tecovas does not have a review site that is, in my opinion, unbiased. First I love the boots look and feel. Excellant quality and premium leather. The fit is excellant and comfortable (once you get them on). I want to warn anyone with a high instep. I wear a size 12 EE boot.Putting the boots on in the store was difficult, taking them off without a boot jack was next to impossible. I had to have sales associate help me. As the boots fit so well and were very comfortable I purchased them expecting to break them in as requried with all boots. Well it's been a year. To put the boots on I use baby powder in the boot and boot hooks to pull them on. I have had to pull so hard the leather on the barrel of the boot has torn. Getting them off requires a boot jack. I resorted to splitting the barrel of the boot from the top to the heel to get them on . Once on, they look and feel great and my jeans cover the split. It is still difficult to get them on without some type of shoe horn as the leather is so supple it curls under my heel. I love the look and feel of the boots but the aggravation of putting them on and off has caused me to no longer wear them. Good boots for the right foot!!!

Love the boots
Love the boots. I probably need a half size larger than what I ordered but I'm hopeful the boots will stretch over time. My next pair will be the gators!!!

Disappointed
I ordered these directly through Tecovas and was met with nothing but problems. Upon contacting customer service (Carli), I was given the 'robotic' non-responses. It's not surprising that there are issues with the boots, based on the 'middle-man' theory with these boots. Tecovas farms the manufacturing out to Leon, Mexico and then upsells the products to American customer - capitalism at best. Don't bother trying to talk to Tecovas about the products or get ahold of anyone, this is a classic no responsibility middle-man operation. I was highly disappointed based on the boots looking amazing on their website, and the marketing campaign makes you WANT to believe!

Short shaft
Good looking boot that is comfortable...except they claim the shaft is 12" but that is false. From the top of the heel to the higest point of the shaft is 11". For anyone who wears boots it will look odd and rub your leg in a place that has never been rubbed. All the other quality western boot brands are 12 to 13". They should be truthful if they are Texans.

Well made, but don't follow their sizing guides!
I bought a pair of these directly from Tecovas. They are well made, I think-- certainly much more soft and supple with slimmer shafts than Olathes or Drews Boots-- which I think I like; makes them easier to wear under jeans certainly. But I made a mistake when I tried to follow their sizing recommendations. They suggest that if your heal easily slips when walking then you should size down. I did that, and for someone like me with slim feet that aren't short or narrow, I just wound up with a pair of boots too small for me. My toes crunched. I tried over and over to stretch out the toe box with boot stretchers to make them work, but it just wasn't enough. I've given up and will throw them away. But it's too bad, because they are nice looking boots. I'm thinking about buying another pair, but in my usual size.Don't make my mistake!

poor quality soles
I purchased my tecovas (Earl) directly from Tecovas.Nice looking boot. Comfortable. Last 2 years wearing them as dress boots. wore a hole in the sole. Not too bad for 2 years.Sent them back to Tecovas to have new soles and recondition the boots. 3 months later the nails are working out of the boot. The sole looks like cardboard when it gets wet. Poor craftsmanship and poor quality on the soles. These are my dress boots not work boots and I have never had boot soles look like this within 3 months. Sent Tecova pictures and all they suggest is sometimes boots wear out in a few months. Seriously in 3 months? Think twice if you are thinking about allowing Tecovas to recondition your boots.

Just not worth the money
I have two pair of tecovas boots and I am not happy with either pair. My cayman boots are ok but the sizing is terrible. Neither boot is wide enough but the left boot is so narrow I can barely get it on. And I ordered the EE boots. The lizard skin boots have a seam running down the middle of each boot. The picture doesn't do it justice, but there is a definite seam. I won't be wasting my money buying tecovas again.
