If you need one of these, this works great.
Well made and functions flawlessly. Speeds the sort of my 22LR VIA base thickness. You must also use dial indicator with it.

Easy to use if you have the right dial or digital indicator
This product is easier to use with a dial or digital indicator vs a dial caliper. I ordered a clockwise tools .5" travel digital indicator hopping it would work, I read it needs a .25" travel indicator but the .5" works of for me. I prefer a .0005 increment indicator. I also bought an assortment of tips to use with the indicator and the Raveneye rim thickness tool, the instructions state to use a larger/flat tip on the indicator, its usually the bottom left tip on most you will find listed on amazon, its like 8 bucks for the 4-48 thread tip set. The Raveneye works perfectly. I find the largest range of tolerances on cheaper ammo, some ranging from 36 up to 42 thousands, I sort mostly by thirds, low thickness, mid and high, I haven't tested the ammo yet to see if there is any difference, but the tool works as advertised. I tried using a caliper tool, you put the round in the bottom vs the center slot, it works but is more awkward, thats just my opinion

Wrong Directions Included
Incorrect directions included. My unit worked with both calipers and a .25" dial indicator with 22LR. Directions stated that the unit did not work with calipers but did. Caliper or dial indicator produced exact same result but the dial indicator is more elegant and quicker to use. I would recommend the gauge for sorting rim thickness in your 22LR ammo. Do yourself a favor, buy a 0.25" travel dial indicator at the same time. Buy once, cry once.

It works
I have hears about the rim thickness if .22 shells being the cause of inaccuracy. So I jumped on this and tested it out. Measuring the rims to .001 inch accuracy and sorting them as such provided much more accurate results. Just to test it I put a scope on my Ruger 10/22 and shot some groups at 100 yards. Not sorting rounds produced a 4 to 5 inch grouping, at 100 yards. Sorting the shells by .001", like .035, .036, .037 and such and then shooting all the same rim thickness, brought the groups down to 1" -2" 5 shot groups. Amazing! Now I have some match ammo and interestingly enough, the all measure .040", no variance. So there is not point in measuring match ammo. Some other ammo I tested, Norma was just better shooting and when measured there was a very small range, only a few thousandths as apposed to some Aguilla which had a spread of .010's in a box of ammo.It does make a difference.

Turns good ammunition (CCI) into match grade ammunition. Ride hard, shoot straight, and always tell the truth.
After watching a lot of you tube vids. I came to the conclusion .22lr rim thickness was the villianj causing flyers. the rifle of choice was a Savage .22lr fv sr, mounted in a Rigid Alloy chassis. A 3x9x38 weaver classic scope was mounted in tally rings. I zeroed it in for 60 meters,an it turned into a decent shooter. I wanted it for squirrel hunting and target shooting. But I kept getting those pesky flyers. So I knew that ammunition was the culprit. After watching a few more videos and using the Raven Eye tool I went to the range and the flyers were no more. One thing of note I found that CCI mini mags had the most consistant rim thickness.
