A decent text for beginning for a guitar
This book offers similar advice, guitar licks, picking techniques, and understanding as most other shred books for electric guitar. There is little difference between this book and electric shred books. Some of the techniques and licks our elementary, as in 1234 exercises with the left-hand. The book also contains major and minor scales, with modes as well. The scale patterns are 3 to 4 note per string with two octave patterns that can be found almost anywhere on the Internet. I purchased this text for my library as a university guitar professor.

Cool idea, poorly executed
I bought this text for my students and even for myself to see if there was anything worth learning. It seemed intriguing so I bought it. Also I will tell you a little about myself, I am a guitar teacher, I graduated out from Berklee, played in many bands, solo acts, and I am a proficient classical guitarist.First I'll give you the good: the text itself is pretty useful with rhythm exercises to start the book (Great idea)it's easy to read. The bad:1.You would think a CD would be useful for example Aaron Shearer Text are wonderful played slow then up to speed, THIS BOOK PLAYS AT OR FASTER THAN ORIGINAL THE TEMPO. This makes a sloppy player especially the beginner who wants to get down these concepts even the intermediate guitarist could get lost in this CD.2. This is hardly an acoustic method based on shredding, these are all very mediocre licks with no explanation or reason. Just a lick book the title is what it is. No explanation, barely any theory.Bottom line: I would NOT BUY ANOTHER BOOK FROM THIS PUBLISHER
