My cat has camped out on this mat everyday since we received it. When I picked him up off of it, it was nice and warm. It really does work with his body heat. He already tossed his cookies on it as he has kidney failure. I threw it in the wash and hung it to dry. No issues and it dried quickly.

We have an 15 year old outdoor cat who has arthritis. Was have been providing him with a heated pad in his cat house during the winter. The cover was wearing off, and in shopping for a replacement I discovered these self warming mats. We still have the heated pad (which we replaced) for his cat house and plug it in on cold nights. After reading reviews of others saying this mat has helped their cat with arthritis, I purchased one and placed on outdoor sleeping place on the porch. Except for occasionally sunning himself on the warn side walk, the mat is the only place he lays down. He no longer sleeps in his cat house unless it's a really cold night. For over a year he's been limping as he walks, after using this pad his limping has almost disappeared. The weather has warmed, but he had a strong limp last summer. I truly believe that this self warming mat has help his pain and lessened his limp. We will be purchasing another for his cat house.

You guys will laugh, but I use these for my chickens when it's the colder months, or it just happens to be chilly and I can't provide them with their heat panels (like a chilly summer day or something). They absolutely love these mats. I got them last winter to help keep them warm alongside their heat panels. I wasn't sure at first if they'd use it because of the dark color I got, but they didn't care once they realized they were warm (and throwing some treats on them helped). No worries, they do get mucked up and filthy, haha! But they're machine washable, so I can always toss them in the wash. And they're durable enough to stand up to my rooster digging at it, so they're worth the money. The size is also perfect for their small coop, and they're nice and soft too, a bonus for all involved. So if you're lookong for a little extra warmth for your feather babies, I highly recommend these.

With warm weather came the usual packing up of the heated blanket that the suckers, I mean my wife and I, keep on the couch for our spoiled housecats. The itty bitty white kitty, affectionately known as Itty, is perpetually cold no matter what time of year it is, so I set out on a quest to find him something that would help when his favorite binkie (the one that makes its own warmth, like some miracle or something) was in storage. I struck out at both of the pet stores near the house (probably because I went looking for a winter product in springtime) so, when I went back home and broke the bad news to Itty, he demanded that I continue looking. Okay. So actually, he just sat there on the non-warming, plain, inferior blanket on "his" section of the couch, affecting a dramatic shiver and occasionally making his teeth chatter. A few days later, Amazon came through for me with this self-warming, fuzzy blanket that's just big enough to fit the middle section of our couch. I mean, Itty's couch. The shivering, white kitty sprang into action, claiming the new binkie as his own even as he continued sniffing it to determine if he were going to like it or puke on it. Or yes. (Sometimes, he vomits on the things he likes. Such as my bed.) This is a soft, fuzzy blanket that all three of our cats lie on for hours at a time. Not all at the same time, though. This blanket isn't quite big enough for that. Besides, they're cats. They don't all get into a big, cute cuddle puddle even when I try to bribe them with food. However, two kitties who are feeling benevolent can comfortably fit on, and snuggle up to each other while using, this blanket. There's a loop on one end for storage, or hanging to dry, as you aren't supposed to just toss this thing into the dryer. This is only a minor inconvenience in our house, as we already hang or lay out some other stuff to air dry; adding one more, small-ish piece of laundry to that isn't the biggest deal. Your mileage may vary, so it's good to know these things before you buy. Inside, there's basically a piece of that silver emergency blanket you may have tucked into your car's trunk for winter weather. (You are prepared for that, right?) So, after one of our cats has been on the blanket a few minutes or so, his/her own body heat is reflected. Warm kitties! No power required! And this was a cheap blanket, so we can replace it every couple-few years without losing our shirts! Actually, I purchased this more than a year ago; during cold months, it got washed and packed up so that Heated Blanket, Itty's favorite, could reappear. He was, again, sad to see that blanket's departure, but welcomed this self-heating alternative with a sniff and a prompt lie down right in the middle. This would be a five-star purchase but, because the fuzzy material is a bit thin, and because this is not the most-luxurious blanket of its type on the market, I can't pretend that it's top of the line. However, for the price, this is a solid deal that I'll buy again. Assuming that the cats don't find this review, learn that I did not spend all of my hard-earned money to buy them The Best Blanket in the Universe, and leave their hairballs in my shoes while I'm asleep. Also, the dark-brown color is a good choice. It hides the most cat hair.

My cat Jordan loves this mat. What she likes is that it not real fuzzy. She refuses to go near anything that makes her feel like it comes from another animal. If I cover up with something with a pile then she will sit on my shoulders instead of my lap.

My cat loves this as it sits in the ottoman and keeps her warm since she hates the cold long winter almost as much as I do, lol.

My 17 yo cat loves this. She’s arthritic and sleeps on this near the radiator. I haven’t tried washing it yet. It’s just the right size for her. Good product so far.

Upon taking a out of the package, I immediately knew my cat would not be likely to enjoy this product because of the crinkling sound. He is a little skittish and a little shy, so anything unusual he will totally reject. I tried to get him used to it by sitting on it & snuggling it myself, and laundering it, but he still gave it the hard pass. I tried it for a week. He immediately started avoiding his favorite snuggle spots if I had placed this warming mat in his spot. I would love to return it, but I already washed it. It seems like a decent product, not too thick, but adds a tiny bit of extra padding, and it obviously reflects heat, but it was rejected by my cat, unfortunately. A couple of nights he reluctantly slept on it if I covered it with his favorite blanket, but otherwise he refused to step on it unless it was covered, which kind of defeats the purpose, I assume. Honestly it kind of scared him and freaked him out. So now I am using it for myself, to sit on one of my metal chairs. * update. This sounds crazy but now my cat loves this thing! He is a former stray cat and is often very skeptical of new fabrics, as I am learning. I didn't want to return the item, so I just sat on it for a couple months using it as a human warmer for our cold outdoor chairs. Once it smelled like me and didn't seem 'scary' anymore, my cat now loves this thing. He frequently sits on it no matter what surface it is on. Sometimes I put it in his cat bed or on our other outdoor furniture. So I have ordered several of these items (self heating pet mats) that were similar, of all varying quality and this one is a little bit on the thin side. Overall, the cat likes it now, so I say go for it if you like it. I do prefer the ones that I have that are a bit fluffier and thicker, but this one is fine

Great product at a good price point. We have now purchased a second one. So glad to have found something that keeps them cozy & warm without the need of batteries or electricity for safety. Their own body heat circulates back to them within minutes AND keeps my furniture fur-free! He knows it’s his and where to sit in the couch. Only suggestion would be to make it more cushioned but overall a fantastic product that’s become essential in our home.

My ragdoll likes to snooze on this during the colder months. I’ll be buying another one for the new ginger cat in my family!

I bought this product because one of my kitties is older and I thought she'd find it soothing. It took her a day or so to discover it, but now she loves sleeping on it. Haven't washed it yet, but the label says it's washable by hand or on delicate.
