Devotions with Depth
This is a wonderful series of 31 devotionals for Advent. Accustomed to Advent lessons that are family oriented or meditations for individuals that are inspirational in nature, I was especially caught by the depth of these devotionals.Geared to answer the question, "Why did Jesus come to earth?", each day's teaching focuses on one answer to that question. Some of the questions included are, "To Do the Will of the Father," "To Bring Light to a Dark World," and "To Bring Judgment." The goal of the authors is, "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith..."(Eph. 3:17-19).In addition to Scripture, an array of sources are drawn upon, including many of the Early Church Fathers, Charles Spurgeon and C. S. Lewis. This work feels like a devotional dip into theology; thoughtful and refreshing. A book with deep roots and modern touches.I look forward to rereading this book throughout the Advent season.

An excellent meditation and encouragement
We use this every December to supplement our daily devotional readings. It helps us remain focused on Christ during a season when the world around us constantly distracts us with less-important or frivolous concerns.

Short, Pithy Reflections on Why Christ Came
Here is a sample from the book:Christ was born with a death sentence already hanging over him at the manger. That thought should bring us some gravity as we reflect on our Lord’s advent. But it should also help us see the utter resolve of Christ to redeem His people. These meditations are arranged in 31 chapters, each about 4-5 pages long -- perfect for the busy Christmas season.

Deep Reflections for Advent
The premise and style of this book is very similar to Piper's "Fifty Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die". This isn't your traditional advent book, looking at the details surrounding Jesus' birth, but is a great deeper treatise of why He came. The meditations are short and take less than 10 minutes per day, making this a nice devotional to read during advent season.

A Great Study on Christ
This study is great in that it is meant for a month of reading. It has great points on why Christ came to earth. It offers Scripture to support each point. I would suggest it for anyone looking for a month long reading or if someone is wanting to get into the study of Christ. This would be a great place to start.

Great Advent resource
We used this to read one every day in December for Advent (to prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas). (Not the child advent calendar we're used to seeing). They are 31 short, but potent reads. They'd be a good read anytime of year.
