Tara Nova Brand Bacalao Alaskan Pollock 16oz Pack of 2

I think a lot of people here don't understand what salted fish is . In the old days ,before refrigeration , fish was preserved by burying it in salt . This fish comes in a salty brine . It is preserved and requires no refrigeration , however most people store it in the refrigerator/freezer . Before cooking it I soak it in cold water , for a few hours , changing the water out at least a few times . After that I bread it and fry it like any other fish . It still has a salty taste and a bit of an unusual taste , but thats what makes it so good !

This item is labeled “ keep refrigerated” but it arrives warm in a plastic envelope. Further. It is not dried fish (like the kind that comes in a box) it’s wet fish packed in a plastic bag with water/some type of liquid slurry. I didn’t open it because it’s probably stinking and rotten considering it was wet, warm and shipped under unrefrigerated conditions. Also, the package originated in China so wondering how long it’s been unrefrigerated. Lastly, it cannot be returned so if you buy this, you’ve lost $22 on a spoiled product.

This is a great product to buy from Amazon. I cook alot of things with it. It's very tasty when you prepare it the correct way. Alwsys remember to soak in boiling water to reduce the salt that it's cured in.

The description says 2 pack of 16 ounces and they only sent 1 pack of 12 ounces. I can't be more disappointed with this product. I paid for the most expensive salted pollock in my life!

It says 16 Oz pack of 2 but it was 12oz and I only received one pack.

Very happy with quality of the fish, YOU NEED TO KNOW that this kind of salted fish has to be rinsed several times before cooking it.
