Works great for descaling and really gets the gunk out.
This stuff did a great job descaling my hot water heater. Went from pink lemonade to black cherry quick. Resolved our issue with descaling the heat exchanger and after we cleaned the bugs out of the squirrel cage the Code 10 was gone. Seems like a great product. A jug goes a long way at a mixture of 5:1.

Works Great. Well worth money.
Previous house owner never flushed the tankless water heater and it stopped working. REN this stuff through for a few hours and it brought the heater back to life. The following year I tried to save some money and used vinegar. Thought it worked but when I recently flushed it again this year with this stuff and the water turned black. Increased water temp by 3 degrees. Only using Quuckdescaler from now on. This stuff works great.

Works best for tankless heaters but for other types consider citric acid.
I'm giving this a 4 star but I think my situation is unique. I have a separate baseboard heater for the house. The heater is old (around 20 years) and was starting to make popping noises during the winter, I thought this was a result of scaling buildup. I setup for flush using a circulator kit (also purchased through amazon). However what I discovered was that my issue was not scaling..it was rust build up...and it was pretty bad. This solution did not address that issue. In fact, the circulating solution never ran clear or changed colors as advertised. I still had an orange tinge in the circulating fluid. After some research I ended up buying two jars of citric acid from the home center and this finally cleared out the circulating solution. I then had to flush out several buckets afterward. My situation is unique, If you have a tankless water heater then the outcome will be different and probably more positive.

Works well
Best part of this descaler is the color changing aspect. It turns yellowish when depleted, and just add a little more as the circulation pump is running the fluid through your on demand water heater, and once the red stays stable - you know you've done the job. I bought the gallon and that should handle ~3-4 runs based on my first use.

This product really works
Been living at our place for almost 2 years. Not sure when the heater was last flushed so rather than using vinegar I opted for this. Considerably more expensive but the reviews were good. bought the kit that had a pump, hoses and pail on Amazon so i knew all connections would work. Proly cheaper to buy the components, but piece of mind counts for something. Connected everything and I mixed the descaler 3:1 ratio and let it run. Foamed in the beginning a little, and I assume that is the calcium reaction. Now recommended time seems to vary so I let it go for 2 hours checking every half hour. At the 2 hour mark the solution started to change colour, which tells me the long cycle was correct. I mixed up a second batch and ran it for another hour, but no colour change. While I did not see any significant change in water flow or pressure at the tap, the colour change was enough to show me this worked. I will use this product again when I flush.

Good value
We've owned a water on demand since 2006. We have well water with a water softener. Having a water on demand does require regular maintenance of flushing given the deposits in the water. We always flushed our tank every 3 months. We've used vinegar as recommended except it started corroding the valves, the utility pump and other connections. We used a few times CLR which lathers too much making the task to flush with clear water extra. Tried Florite it was good except expensive. We replaced our very old water softener with a very updated new one with iron remover. Making a huge difference in maitenancing the tank to I think every 6-8 months. It does the job very well does remove iron residue as well any calcium build up and any other mineral build up. Should flush the tank around 45 minute with solution then flush with regular water to remove any descaler residue. I found there isn't any after taste or smell with this descaler after the flushing is done. Will definitely buy this as a regular maitenance routine.

Works better than others I have tried
I've used three other products before this stuff on my Rinnai tankless water heater. The last product I used about 5 months prior and I was starting to notice issues so I suspected it needed a clean again so I bought this and it made a huge difference and foamed up a lot which led me to believe it was actually doing something too. My tankless has been running great for a while now... Touch wood.
