Both look & weigh the same (90 grams w/o cable). The newer + version will cost you about $16 more. So if you want a higher DPI, more ambient lighting choices & an upgraded Pixart 3330 sensor spending the extra $16 may be worth it. Otherwise the older Rat 4 is a good choice.The driver/software for the older rats like the 4 is now available on Mad Catz website. However, unlike the newer +rats the older software is no longer supported. It works fine for me but it can have a few quirks. For example, I set up the buttons for Battlefield & when I click on "Battlefield" entry I get a Load/Error message. I can't delete the BF entry even after deleted & reinstalling the driver/software. Since then I've added several games w/o any problems but the original faulty Battlefield entry still shows up.I like the firm feel of the buttons & the adjustable palm rest. The mouse is accurate during game play & is usable for ever day use as well. The Rat 4 is a bit wider than other mice so if you have smaller hands it may not be comfortable. My hands are average width so for me its a comfortable mouse, just a different feel. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Update: This mouse is awesome *by T***D on Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2019* New Review: Update: Holding true after several months. This is the best designed mouse I've ever used. I'm a freelance designer, so I like to surround myself with well designed stuff to help fuel my process. This mouse is one of those things. It's not a gamer mouse, because it's not heavy. It's a designer's mouse because it's the perfect mid weight and solid as a rock. Solid clicks, lightweight, and wide (so no crabby hand). It looks and feels like a well designed weapon. I love it.Old Review (still valid):I keep hearing rumors this company is "out of business" then "back in business". I'm not sure. I've always loved this company's products. This mouse is so awesome. It's medium sized, lightweight, and feels solid. The buttons click with that perfect feedback and tiny audible click. You know that sweet perfect click feeling. All other features work as well. Mousewheel is smooth yet has that perfect sequential bumpy scroll feel.
