Failed after less than a year.
Failed after less than a year. Inverter works when AC power is absent, but when plugged in there is no AV output and the battery charger portion is inoperative. Basically it can no only be used as in inverter, Also, as this was a backup for a sump pump it was hardly used.

This INVERTER/CHARGER makes Life EASY when you need to make an Emergency Battery Bank for Home
I teach people for free how to make an emergency battery bank to power items in their house when the power fails ( [...] ) All the classes are FREE and you can listen with just one click, even on your smart phone as you drive, just one tap. Before this inverter to make a battery bank I had to have a separate battery charger and a separate inverter wired to the battery bank. Usually a Schlumacher charger (see them on the above website) anyway, the schlumacher charger is fussy and it likes to go into a higher voltage desulfurization mode which just freaks the inverter out if its turned on, the inverter alarms an over voltage alarm. So I had to replace and fix my mothers battery bank at her house because it was 8+ years old. The fan in the charger had died, so the charger would only do 5 amps instead of 30 amps, and the GC2 2x golf cart batteries were getting old so I decided to get this inverter about 9 months ago and do an upgrade at moms house. BOY did this inverter / charger make it EASY. All I had to do was run 2 cables from the inverter to the batteries, plus the inverter/charger into the wall outlet, and hook up my mothers emergency lights up to the inverter outlets. When the power is on, it powers an LED rope light and some other LED lights upstairs (120 volts), when the power fails, the unit takes about 1/4 to 1/2 second to switch over, so the lights blink when going from 'shore power' to battery power but then everything is running off of the battery and the inverter. If you have a sump pump and you want to have it battery backed up, this is 100% the way to go. The setup is so easy. Again, if you want free step by step class on how to do this, there are 2 audio classes and one video class at Battery1234.com I have started to recommend the royal inverter to some of my friends who are putting in new battery banks because it makes life so much more simple. So far the inverter has been working perfect for over 9 months. As always, be sure to check the water levels in your battery about every 6 months. We did have to add water to the GC2's after 6 months with this inverter/charger

It s worth to buy it.
It Works great. But the timing to switching to house electricity is a little bit too long.

Now only useful with a backup device when primary power fails
Purchased this to run a single sump pump from house power and switch over to a battery bank when when the house power is unavailable. Less than a year of use and the unit will not supply power to the pump while primary power is active. Now only useful with a backup device when primary power fails, which means a second pump and float switch. Two stars as it didn't completely fail, but far too expensive to have a fundamental feature fail so quickly.

I bought it and it died in 4 months
I liked to low price and the included feature of having a transfer switch. I needed this feature in my RV to switch between AC power and DC p4wer from batteries. It seemed to be cantankerous to get working at the start, but then seemed to be fine. But then about 5 months later recurring problems and then finally complete failure. The tone that sounds when an overload occurs or loss of power came on and never stopped. I tried many ways to restart and nothing worked. I have now rewired around the inverter and will not buy another. Even the phone number on the website for support is never answered.

Was able to start a sump pump that a 1500 Watt unit would not
I wanted to support a basement sump pump in an area that is known to get basement flooding in heavy rain. I did not know the rating on the pump as it was in the house when purchased. I put a watt meter on it and it read 1100 watts so I thought a 1500 would handle it. But the start-up load was too much for a 1500. So I purchased this unit and it handles the sump pump just fine. If the power is cut there is a switch over lag of a few seconds but then the unit comes right back online on battery power and the pump powers right up. I am very pleased. When the power returns the pump goes back to house power and the inverter charges the battery. It does what it is supposed to do, so I am pleased. Can't say what the longevity will be but for now it seems to be working just fine.

So far so good - Sump Pump backup
My setup: 1x Myers mci033 1/3HP Sump Pump -AMP DRAW (full load): MCI033 Series: 9.8 Amps -VOLTAGE: 115v AC, 60 Hz 1x Royal Power PIC2000 Inverter 1x Universal Power Group 12V 100Ah Solar Wind AGM SLA DEEP Cycle VRLA Battery 2 AWG battery cables 3ft length 8 AWG copper ground wire (grounded to a metal wall anchor) This unit replaced the Tripp Lite Power Inverter / Charger w/ Auto Transfer Switching, 1250W So far, the PIC2000 seems to run my sump pump successfully. I let the pump cycle about 10 times and each time it ran the pump without issue. -The switchover seems to be pretty instant when going from AC to DC power. I did not notice the delay time other people were reporting. -The battery charging feature seems to work well. It will charge the battery to about 14.5volts, then go into a float mode where it keeps the battery at about 13.4volts. -Its VERY quiet, unlike the Tripp Lite inverter. I will continue to test and post any updates.

Arrived only partially working
Mine arrived only 1/2 working. It does work as an inverter when attached to a charged 12v battery. But it doesn't pass working 120v through, the cutover switch doesn't work, and the charger doesn't work. Perhaps someone sent their failed unit back (described in just this state) and it got sent to me. :( Oh, and while what I ordered and received was the PIC-2000 model it got sent to me in a box and with a manual for the PI-2000 (no switch or charger) and with different status displays. So I can't even figure out the lights on my are indicating. :( Not happy. RoyalPower not responding to my emails. :( If anyone else has an actual manual for the PIC-2000 I'd really appreciate images of the pages describing status LEDs and tones. Thx
