Ricardo's newest release is his most ambitious work yet. Taking a look back at his career, Ricardo and his crew have updated and improved on some of their greatest hits while remaining faithful to their Afro-Cuban music with pan-African styles like soukous, kizomba and semba. Favorites that have been updated include Yiri Yiri Bon (now a Colombian cumbia with African guitar licks), Mambo Yo Yo, Tala Masamba, Ay Valeria, Mama Kiyelele and Sao Salvador.

Retrospectiva- The numbering of the tracklist is slightly incorrect
I am very pleased with Lemvo's Retrospectiva. Even though I don't understand the African dialects, I enjoy the music to the fullest. His remake of Mambo Yo Yo is fabulous. He deserves the 5 stars. Hope Ricardo Lemvo and his Makina Loca are not underestimated. I have his 4 previous albums which never become boring.

An excellent compilation that is essential for Lemvo lovers!
This is an excellent compilation that is essential for Lemvo lovers because it contains new versions of his favorites—such as a Cumbia version of "Yiri Yiri Bon"—and tracks that all fit together nicely. Although some of Lemvo's experiments occasionally do not work, his oeuvre is generally consistent in its high quality, and if one is a fan of African Salsa and Rumba, you cannot go wrong with this CD.

Fantastic Sounds!
I purchased this CD after listening to another song of Ricardo's on an Afro Cuban CD that I have and Retrospectiva truly surpassed my expectations. His music, combined with his smooth voice, are a wonderful combination that makes you sing and dance with every track. Based on the rhythm of this CD, I will definitely purchase more from this artist.

Two Stars
The CD was cracked upon receipt. How disappointing to listen to half the music paid for!
