I'M GLAD I PURCHASED THIS BOOK, IT GAVE ME ALL THE INFORMATION I NEEDED TO KNOW ON THE NFC, BECAUSE MY VET DIDN'T EVEN KNOW A LOT ABOUT THEM DUE TO NOT MANY OF THEM IN MY STATE.I GOT MINE AT A RESCUE ORGANIZATION, AND THEY HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS KITTEN WAS A NFC, BUT I HAVE SEEN THEM IN CAT SHOWS AND RECOGNIZED THE FEATURES. SO, SINCE THEY'RE SO DIFFERENT, I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THEM UNTIL THIS BOOK.I HAVE HAD ABOUT 40 MAINE COONS IN MY LIFE, BUT THEY ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAT A NFC.I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK HIGHLY FOR ANYONE WHO GOT A NFC FROM A RESCUE OR SHELTER, PEOPLE PROBABLY GIVE THEM UP BECAUSE OF NOT KNOWING ENOUGH ABOUT THEM, BUT THEY ARE THE MOST LOVING CAT AND WANT TO BE PART OF YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE, BUT THEY STILL WANT THERE OWN SPACE.

I have a big 7 year mixed breed cat that we adopted from a shelter, which seems to fulfil a lot of the breed description of the Norwegian Forest Cat. His coat is very silky, which also leans to some Maine Coon input. He is well proportioned at 8 kg. This book helped with some possible identification for interest with some good photo’s.

Most of the text could apply to owning a cat in general. The information specific to the NFC was repetitive to what I found easily online. Not even many pictures. I would have liked to see more examples of different colors, NFCs at different ages, etc.Overall, it just wasn’t very useful.

Recommend for those who want to know more about the breed. Easy to read. It was a really good book

Although most references are from US sources, this is a very informative and useful book about the Norwegian Forest cat breed. My cat is not a pure bred NF, but a cross breed which has predominately Norwegian Forest features and temperament.This book provides help and information about the breed, including choosing kittens from a breeder, correct feeding, amount of personal interaction required, potential health issues, vet treatment, grooming care; and - if you're interested - entering your 'Wegie' in exhibitions.These are fairly large and powerful - but gentle and intelligent - semi long-haired cats. They can be very active, and love to climb up to high positions.This is a great source of information if you've never had a Norwegian Forest cat before, and are thinking about getting this breed.

only 3 stars, as almost same as the other book I had purchased re the HFC. and not enough in depth info

I've had my two Weggies for 6 months now. I decided to order this book to gain a further insight into their breed. It does give a lot of information. Definitely worth getting if you want to live with these beautiful animals. Had this book been available earlier and prior to me buying them this would have been perfect however I'd already knew most of the detail as I gained background from the internet and from my breeder. For someone setting out to buy a Weggie it has all the info you'll need.

A good starting point for a potential cat owner. Nice and clear wording and very easy to read. Some nice pictures too.
