Works great! Easy Fix
Who knew fridge ice makers regularly die out every 3-5 years? Works great, well made, doesn't sit tight and flush against the fridge wall like the factory one might, but it's in your freezer so who cares? Cheap and easy to do. Remarkably easy... just unplug the fridge, take off 2-3 screws, unplug the cable from the socket, and you're halfway there. Re-install is the reverse process and you're done in maybe 15 minutes. Give the freezer 12 hours to cycle for new ice and throw out the first few batches. Enjoy the money you saved and your new found ice making capabilities by making margaritas. Or mimosas if you're fancy.

Perfect! Exactly what we needed!
Excellent! Exactly as pictured. We knew the wiring wasn't going to work in our older GE model fridge from the picture before we purchased this item. However the price point by Supco was the best by far, so we took the chance that my husband could either use the wires from the old unit or splice new w/old. To our surprise and delight we simply unplugged the wiring from the old ice maker and it worked w/the new unit! One end fit perfectly in the ice maker while the other end fit perfectly in the freezer. Can you tell I'm a freezer/ice maker repair gal? LOL My husband had this replacement installed in less than 10 minutes.Note: The directions say something about a 'set screw' for the size of the cubes. We decided to see what the factory setting was before we took the face off and did any damage. The factory setting is perfect.Works great. Nice big sold cubes that we are loving.Shipping was fast and safe. You won't be disappointed.

Happy with price and performance and options for install...probably safer than old one too.
Price was lowest could find...some are up to $150.00. I installed it myself after watching some videos on youtube... It is working fine, so far, a few days now, and already have a full BIN of ice. The old one was probably original GE Profile, metal base and it was full of metal shavings...scary, in the bottom of the little ice half moon slots... Afterwards, on the internet searched and others found the same metal shavings in their old ice makers...GE did not answer them as to where the shavings came from. I recommend you run it dry, defrost it, and wipe them out and see if your old one has the shavings too. Only metal that I know is in the system...all plastic, but for the tray, looks like cast iron. This one is a plastic base inside. The screws for the old one were in so tight I had to drill them out. I don't know why GE used Phillips screws and not the little nut head screws... The drill messed up the holes. This new one comes with a adapter for the higher bracket holes...that I discarded. I just drilled two new holes on the mounting plate, after lining this icemaker's bracket holes up and marking them with a square...so level. I got two bolt head type screws from my junk draw. The wire harness was right too... The water line tray has hole for side input, knock out plate for back side input hose. like mine. However, I can't for the life of me figure out what the little plastic right angle piece and screw is for...not in the directions that came with it? Next have to see how long the new one lasts: 6 years like the old one.

Makes ice, Installation easy and fit nicely. (It is universal)
Worked great fixed the issue at my parents house, I was visiting for 5 days and the old ice maker died. Went on and ordered it had it in 2 days (Amazon Prime). Installation was quick and easy next morning there was 1/2 tray of ice.NOTE: when we turned the new ice maker on it did not do anything for about 2 hours so we were not sure if it would work. Turned out that the internal thermostat had to get cold enough before the switch would activate the unit. So install it close the door and look at it the next morning to dump the first tray of ice.

1st one lasted about 6 years, the 2nd lasted about 1 year, 3rd had water level was set incorrectly
I purchased this same model in 2014, and then again in 2020 when the first one failed. Now the 2nd unit (purchased in May 2020) has failed, and it is only July 2021. Considering that the original ice maker lasted over 10 years, I'd expect at least a bit longer than just over a year of operation from this unit. In any case I'd suggest looking for something better, possibly even something with a warranty lol. I gave it 2 stars only out of charity, since it did make ice for just over a year, but really it deserves zero since it just didn't last.Update: Unfortunately, despite my suggestion, my Dad went and bought this exact same ice maker to replace his faulty unit which I had already replaced twice with this same part, as mentioned above (I was too slow to find an alternative, and the man needs his ice). Once installed, he found that the water level was too high (factory set) which caused the cubes to get stuck. Seems simple, check the manual to see how to adjust the water level... well no. The manual shows a water adjustment screw but makes it unclear where the adjustment is when compared to the actual unit (unless they assume their customers have x-ray vision). If they simply stated the screw was on the side, it would have helped confirm, since there are multiple adjustment screws on the unit. Thankfully there is a youtube video ( titled "Trouble shooting tricks for a 1997 Kenmore/Coldspot/Whirlpool icemaker module") which shows how to adjust the level. Dropping this to one star since the level should have been set correctly from the factory.

Does not fit even after checking model and serial#
Ordered this for our GE refrigerator using the Model and Serial number and does not fit, it's too large. Now that I had found the time to try and install it, it's past the 30 day return window so now I have a $90.00 paperweight.
