Review: *****Warning***** restocking fee scam $129.50 just for restocking, ok quality device. - The quality of the device seemed ok, but the rotation of the disc caused constant noise, that was annoying when trying to sleep. I returned the device and was charged $129 restocking fee? This is unacceptable, no where did I see this mentioned. I would never buy from this company again. The image from the device was ok, it was brighter than my $40 projector but it was not good enough to cost almost 300.
Review: Ceiling paint is important! Awesome projector! - This star projector is quite the bang for your buck! I recently had an attic fire, forcing me to repaint my living room (and everything else soon) so I went dark this time, painted the whole thing ceiling too Dard Hunter Green, very cool looking. The rest of the rooms are still primed with an unbelievably white PVA primer product. The Sega in the dark living room is like being outdoors in a fantastic star viewing location..super realistic, and the shooting stars are very accurate. When I moved it to my bedroom, still painted the awful white primer, well, it seems too bright, like..couldn’t go to sleep bright, believe it or not! I prefer the look of it in the dark living room. I think ppl don’t realize how important the reflectivity of their ceilings influences the way the projector works. You can place the projector quite low to the ground, I have mine behind my couch, tv wall opposite, and the lens still somehow fills the ceiling. I included a picture from just my phone from the bedroom ceiling, I didn’t alter the exposure or anything. It’s actually way brighter than that in person, you know how hard it is to photo dark things at night on your phone! When I see ppl writing “bad” reviews about this complaining they are not bright enough, I don’t know what they’re expecting, their paint must have a low reflectivity, because on a super white ceiling, I think it’s too bright, but that PVA stuff is so white it hurts your eyes. Its like a spray primer for drywall, awful stuff. I can’t wait to get more discs for it..I think this is an amazing product!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does it really have a flux capacitor?**
A: Of course it does! But you might need a more powerful power source to supply it with the required 1.21 gigawatts. You could for example use 605,000 of these:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00N7J1LLS/

**Q: Is the simulation of the earth’s rotation adjustable? Is the rotation real-time?**
A: The earth rotates once per day. It is very slow. You can simply turn the rotation off to have a quasi-static picture.

The rotation is about once per 5 to 15 mins.

**Q: Is it possible to have this come on at a certain time each night?**
A: No, there is no scheduling ability built in. It can turn itself off, but not on. Even if you use an external timer, like a smart outlet or a light timer, it won't remember the last settings. Any time I turned it on I always had to press several different buttons for out preferred settings.

**Q: Would this work in a gym?**
A: I've used this in a classroom (~30'x25') that has 15' ceilings. It doesn't cover the entire ceiling, but a large chunk of the middle with little bleed onto the walls. It was clear enough to point out constellations, but not as clear as to when used in a traditional bedroom. So, my opinion is that it would work fairly well in a gym, but it's not ideal.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Want a realistic planetarium projector under $200? This is your best choice.
*by J***A on July 26, 2020*

I've researched planetarium projectors for a while and finally splurged and bought a Homestar Flux for myself. I was so excited when I finally received it yesterday, I immediately opened it and tested it out in my dark bathroom. I was impressed! The projector comes with an instruction booklet that explains everything perfectly. The Homestar Flux comes with a couple of different features; there's a rotating option that allows the disc (that you place inside) to spin either clockwise or counterclockwise and a shooting star option (that's pretty much static aside from the left to right movement of the star every 30 seconds). The projector also has a timer feature; you can set it to automatically turn off after 15, 30, or 60 minutes. If you do not set the timer, the device will power off after 3 hours. The Homestar Flux comes with a power cord and a wall adapter and does not use batteries. The Homestar Flux comes with two discs --- 1) the Northern Hemisphere stars and 2) constellations. It also comes with a poster of the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere that you can hang up on your wall. SEGA claims that there are about 30 compatible discs for the Flux, though I have yet to see the full selection available here on Amazon (and yes, discs that the Homestar Original/Classic use are also compatible with the Flux). Sivesco/SEGA does have some on here to purchase. The pictures I included are of the following 3 discs (which were purchased separately and cost 25 dollars each): Nebulae: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTR7QMB/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_4FEhFbZ9F4JCK Disappearing Continent: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTR96LM/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_pEEhFbXA4CG9Z Immersive Paranal World: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GTS5ZF5/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_IEEhFbMN7DMSR ***NOTE: The pictures I took were inside my bedroom that has 8-10 feet vaulted ceilings. The projection pretty much covered the entire ceiling of my 11 by 14 feet room! I was impressed! You may be wondering why I docked a star off. I did so for a couple of reasons: 1) The price. I was not a fan of having to shell out more than 200 dollars to purchase this but I suppose that's what you get if you're looking for something of quality. I wish the separate discs didn't cost 25 dollars either but oh well. 2) The colors. When looking at the pictures I took of the nebulae for example, you might notice the colors appear to be a little dull. I wish they were more vibrant (and brighter too). Now I don't normally write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for this awesome little device. The Homestar Flux is a worthwhile purchase for any astronomy lover or anyone who wants to add some ambiance to their room. If you have money to spend, I've read that Miller Engineering's Dark Sky Planterium is a worthy competitor. You can find it here for $561: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0862HZ9Z5/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_MEEhFbN3YG698. You might also be comparing this to BlissLights Sky Lite (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L8R5PK6/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_0QEhFbCJ2J4GS). Don't. If you want something that's realistic-looking, the Homestar Flux is THE choice to go with. If you want something that's geared more toward kids, rooms with LED lights, or something that's more budget-friendly, then the Sky Lite may be a better fit for you.
