Vijeta(The Victor) is the coming of age story of Angad(Kunal Kapoor). Confused like any other teenager trying to find himself and caught in between the marital problems of his mother Neelima(Rekha) and father Nihal(Shashi Kapoor). It is time for him to decide what he wants to do with his life. To select a profession and be someone, Angad chooses to become a fighter pilot with the Indian Air Force. What follows is his struggle to become a victor both with his self and the outer world.

Very slowly, but sweetly progressing movie-see if you have lots of time and patience.
Honestly, I ordered the movie after watching this movie's classical song in TV. For my satisfaction the song comes as playback throughout the film. The forgiveness sharing, giving your time and effort for the struggling one facing the life courageously and thereby finding the meaning and attaining inner victory is crux of the movie. Each one of the character in the movie has their haunting emotional burdens and having buried it inside affects their own and other family members. . With the active social networking and the fast paced life, finding time and willingness and sit through the movie to the slow and steady unfolding of events may seem luxury. but the underlying philosophy of life the movie depicts is worth watching. Music is haunting, especially, the classical hindustani song sung byAsha Bhonsley enacted by Rekha in the film stirrs the soul. Rekha as a no nonsense woman and finally shatters to a feeble woman and mother- acting revealing yet another dimension. Shashi Kapoor, as a emotionally traumatised husband his histrionics is so genuine, you really empathize with the character. Om puri is good in his supportive role.Notable features: 1. Mother & son, father and son, lovers everybody communicate through postal letters!!!!!!!!!!. Quite a nostalgia. 2. Imagine Amrish Puri as a mentor to Hero. Mohambo Khush Huvaa. Par Hum Ithna Nahi. 3. Hero looks anemic and not bathed for days. Not at all handsome.
