Review: Great product for the price. - It's a great product for the price. I have a smaller lawn that this works perfect for & more importantly, what it's ment for. I lightly watered the grass 1st, so that the spikes would go in easier. I also added about 25lbs. to the top of the device. I'm in above average shape, but it was a bit tiresome to push, (even for about 10min). I have a Ryobi, 40V, self propelled lawn mower, in which I attached this product to. There were actually (2) holes already in the mower that I was able to utilize with the bolts provided. It worked great to puncture down in grass & top soil, to allow me to overseed. This is not a product your going to purchase, assemble & use if you do not have a general understanding of mechanics. This is also not for you if: 1) you have a large lawn. 2) you don't own a socket set. 3) you can't walk a standard cinder block around for about 10-15min. It works, but it is WORK. The Ryobi lawnmower made it extremely effortless & drastically reduced time.

I am going to look into putting a longer, cushioned, one-piece side rail on it and playing with the amount of weight on the unit. That won't make the job easy, but I believe it can make it something I can complete without killing myself. If I come up with any handle/weight "hacks," I will add them to the review.

**Q: Does a modification of adding a 6” wheel change the depth of penetration significantly (re a change made by 3 star reviewer)?**
A: To make it work at all you will need to add a lot of weight to the top of it . In doing that it makes it hard to pull around. How far it penetrates depends on how hard your ground is.

**Q: Does it have a tray for seeds?**
A: No. Seeding will have to be done separately

**Q: What sort of block size and weight did people find effective?**
A: A rectangular patio block. Cinder block didn’t fit like they did on the old ones. One patio block after it rained a few inches worked fine.  2 if it’s dryer I ratchet strapped them on.

**Q: What tools are needed to put it together?**
A: You will need a wrench or socket set, most importantly a 7/16” wrench and a ½” wrench

It's a great product for the price. I have a smaller lawn that this works perfect for & more importantly, what it's ment for. I lightly watered the grass 1st, so that the spikes would go in easier. I also added about 25lbs. to the top of the device. I'm in above average shape, but it was a bit tiresome to push, (even for about 10min). I have a Ryobi, 40V, self propelled lawn mower, in which I attached this product to. There were actually (2) holes already in the mower that I was able to utilize with the bolts provided. It worked great to puncture down in grass & top soil, to allow me to overseed. This is not a product your going to purchase, assemble & use if you do not have a general understanding of mechanics. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prepare yourself for a real workout !

Prepare yourself for a real workout! Of course, if you are looking at this or considering it, you are probably already prepared for some real exercise. For use in my own modestly-sized lawn, I could not rationalize purchasing a more automated solution for use a couple of times per year, so I opted for this solution. It was $15-$20 over-priced for what the picture showed (but what isn't in 2023?), but knowing I would save money in the long run over renting or hiring, I made the plunge. The box it came in was surprisingly small (the arms comprise multiple pieces). I was initially surprised by the number of nuts and bolts. The instructions were sparse on words but visually comprehensive, which meant that assembly was fairly straightforward after sorting out all of the pieces and matching them to the diagrams. As far as using the device, I started with the only size concrete block I could find in Home Depot that made sense from the dimensions of the top plate. I found that pulling it was nowhere as effective as pushing it. I live in NC, so it's clay under the sod. I found pushing with my arms higher than at the waist level more comfortable and effective (I am 6' and 72 years old). My lawn isn't always level, so starting from a level spot (backing up and getting a running start) helped me get past the dips and whatnot. Needless to say, I felt the workout that evening in my upper arms and back. ;-) Overall, I am pleased with the device. A couple of runs over the lawn and I was satisfied that I had done a reasonable job aerating the lawn.
