Lamps and Shades - In Metal and Art Glass

If you're thinking about making your own "America Crafts Style" lamps this book does provide a good starting point with patterns and dimensions. Some dimensions are missing, but it's easy enough to decide what would work in place of what is missing. The book also provides ideas for make jigs to fabricate some of the parts. The intro talks about using paper and cardboard a some of the material to make the lights with, don't let put you off if you're think you want something of a more period piece. The designs are such that 18 ga or 20 ga sheet metal is easy enough to go with as far as dimensions are concerned. "How to Make Mission Style Lamps & Shades" is not worth buying because it's just a duplicate in a smaller format at a higher price.ause it

This is the exact same book as "How to Make Mission Style Lamps and Shades" published by Dover Craft Books, also available from Amazon. Apparently the copyright's expired on this book, and anyone who wants to reproduce it is free to do that. This one's formatted a bit larger than the Dover edition, so the illustrations are larger, but it's the same book.Having said that, the designs are nice and there's lots of possibilities for making your own adaptations of them. The construction methods can be carried out in a simply equipped home shop.

What was there is very well done..... the book was short and some to the ideas were repeated.. wish the book would have been a little more off the beatin path with more ideas......... however i will refer to this book when and if I decide to make a lamp.... The instructions are easy to follow .......

I admit I'm a newbie to this but I was expecting more concerning the acquisition of materials and more content on the types of material other than measurements. .

This book gives me some great ideas. Good book with some good plans.
