I absolutely love this colored sand for my younger students. I use it during literacy time to practice letter names that are sounds, and even CVC words it has been such a hit. The colors are bright and engaging, the sand is so soft which immediately grabs their attention. I just poured the sand into a simple utility tray, but I’ve seen others use pencil boxes just as successfully we use our fingers to write sometimes pencils or markers to trace depending on the activity. The sensory component really helps reinforce learning and my students go crazy over it I thought it was a great bang for your buck with how much sand you get and there’s just something powerful about students being excited to use materials while they’re learning I highly recommend!

This Hygloss sand is a nice clean, fine sand for many crafting projects. I'm currently working on 2 fairy gardens and needed the sand to cover the bottom of a pond for one of the gardens that will be covered under epoxy. The sand was easy to work with and covered the surface nicely. I also used this sand to mix with clear Tacky glue as a base for a small container flower bed for the other fairy garden. The fine grain of this sand mixed well with the glue and provided just the right consistency needed to hold the plants and items in place. The reason for 4 stars instead of five is not about the product itself but about the way the bottle of sand arrived to me. The screw top on the bottle was cross threaded allowing the loss of about 1/4 pound of the 3 pounds of sand. Not cool as I paid for 3 pounds and the cleanup was a pain as it went everywhere and was all over the bottle and threads as I removed the cross threaded cap in order to screw it on properly.

The colors of this sand are as vibrant as advertised. I could not open the jar lids, so I had to drill a hole in the lids so I could access the sand. It was easy to pour the sand through the hole and then put masking tape to reseal the hole. I am storing the smaller amounts in other small plastic containers. This sand will be used in sand trays to practice writing letters and words for early learners. A fun learning activity.

Product as shown! It's a lot more sand than you would think. I used it to weigh down the bottoms of aluminum cans since I collect energy drink cans 👍🏻
