Any trumpet players out there who have uses this device to build valve finger dexterity?

I apologize I don't really know in regards to valves, I know I use it primarily for finger strengthening and dexterity for guitar playing though I would have to think it would help with any instrument where finger dexterity is involved regardless if it is a stringed or wind instrument sorry I couldn't give a more direct answer

Do you think an 8 year-old lefty can benefit from this exerciser? He needs to strengthen and improve finger dexterity.

I teach guitar to children.  My 8 year old student did NOT have the strength to push any of the buttons down and got frustrated with it very quickly.  We had it on the loosest setting but there was still too much resistance for his little hands.  That's another thing.  It's really too big for little hands to wrap around well.

Question 3

Does this make much noise? For instance, in a quiet office environment, would you hear the springs on this creaking?

You can adjust the resistance of the springs to make it harder or easier. When there is less resistance, it's relatively noiseless. When there's more resistance, it's more audible. It's not particularly loud, but if you're in close proximity to your office mates, there's a decent chance they'll be able to hear it. Just the same, I'd recommend this product, as it's not just a finger strengthener but can also function as a forearm workout.

how is this for violin?

I am sorry I don't really know how this is as far as violin.   I know this helps with finger strengthening and dexterity and has a side that simulates strings too so am quite sure if that helps or not.  Sorry I bought this since I am learning guitar so I don't know too much about other stringed instruments.  Though I may not have answered the question directly I hope this helps.
