The BB King has arrived...
I have struggled with negative displays previously so I was hesitant. I took the plunge and holy CRAP I love this watch. I would think that this is definitely for people with larger wrists unless you want a HUGE watch on your smaller wrist. With a 7.8" wrist, it is like it was MADE for me. The legibility of this screen is just unbelievable albeit requiring a tilt of the wrist as needed. At night with auto-illumination on, the display could NOT be more clear. This backlight is just fantastic and works so well. I added a set of bull bars to this watch and it enhances the already amazing durability of the watch as well. With its 200M of water resistance, this will EASILY handle every water exposure need that will ever need. Guess I'll have to call off my Bering Strait dive though. :-) This was could not be easier to use for sure. Very simple, clean interface, full of features for every activity, it literally hits the bill perfectly. And it's solar powered! For the money, you can't go wrong. I would buy ANOTHER one If they made this model with solar power and MultiBand 6. THAT would be AMAZING! If you find that you like this style, there are 17 other 56GX models. Some of them are pretty plain looking while OTHERS are very colorful and include some collabs with celebrities. I already have 5-6 OTHER variations on my list for sure. For the money, it is a GREAT value. Even at its large size, it is incredibly lightweight. And the time keeping is so accurate! Don't think twice. Just buy it. NOW! You will NOT be disappointed.

Indestructible Stealth Bomber For Your Wrist
I own a Casio Edifice ECB500D-1A. It is a watch, which I wear, each time I went out. Sure, it is a sports/dress hybrid, kind of watch. However, the watch cost, too much to wear in the outdoors and has, too much of a fancy look to wear, more than, casually. Therefore, I went on the hunt for an all-black, military, stealth-looking, solar-powered, heavy-duty watch, which I can for the outdoors. I saw the G-Shock GX-56BB Blackout Series and was in awe. It had the features I wanted and more. **THE GX-56BB IS NOT MULTIBAND 6!!!!** BUILD: The GX-56BB is made of resin with a solid, matte black finish. The dial window is made of mineral. The digital display is gold. The combination gives the watch a stealth-like, military, look. The GX-56BB is large and well-built. It has a thick, 17.50-millimeter case, which consists of a new, triple-layered, structure, which has a soft and hard, urethane with Alpha GEL. Part of that structure can be seen on the inner-edges, beneath the solar panels. The Alpha GEL is what makes the watch have shock absorption, vibration isolation and dissipate heat. That triple-layered build is awesome, making the GX-56BB, durable and virtually, indestructible. Once, I saw a magazine, which showed, each layer of the structures, more in-depth and in 3-D. As a bonus, the watch is 200 meters (650+ feet), water-resistant, magnetic resistant AND mud resistant. With that said, I have always wanted a mud resistant watch, which is why I wanted the Casio G-Shock Mudmaster. However, I got this watch with that feature for less than half the price. Also, to add to the durability and indestructibility of this watch, I would recommend, purchasing wire-face protection, bull bar. The bull bar adds increased protection and style to the watch. FEATURES: As I mentioned above, the GX-56BB is not Multiband 6, which is a feature of the similar, but increasingly expensive, Japan version (GXW-56BB-1JF). This means, with the GX-56BB, the user will have to manually set the time. With Multiband 6, the time will set, automatically via radio waves from the watch’s built-in antenna. To start off, one of the coolest features of this watch is the tough solar power. This is a rare feature for a sports watch. The power-saving mode is an added bonus to this feature, adding longevity. Users will know, when this feature is activated, when they see “PS”, directly under the date on the display. One example of the power-saving function is, if the power-saving mode is selected, if the watch is in darkness for an extended period of time, the watch will shut off. The power-saving mode is, so sensitive, if the watch is under the user’s sleeve for an extended period of time, the watch will power off. The power-saving feature can be manipulated. For example, when out of use, place the watch, face-down! Now, if the watch is exposed to any kind of light, the watch will restore power and all of the settings will remain the same. Next, there is the mud-resistant feature. I decided to test the mud-resistance of this watch, while I was at Myrtle Beach. While in the water, I buried the watch in the wet sand for a few minutes. Afterward, I took the watch out and it was completely covered in muddy sand. I plunged it in the water and the watch was still, functional. Not to mention, the watch looked like it had not been in any kind of elements, whatsoever. OTHER FEATURES: The GX-56BB has a world time feature of 31 time zones OF 48 cities and UTC (Universal Time Coordinated Universal Time). Another feature is daylight-savings time, which can be turned on/off. Another cool feature is the watches EL backlight with afterglow. The color of the backlight is, as a combination of blue and green on the display. In addition to the backlight, the GX-56BB has an auto-light feature. This feature can be turned on/off. With auto-light activated, the display must be aimed towards the face and the light will power on. Users will know, when this auto-light feature has been activated because an “A.EL” will be displayed, right above the seconds. The GX-566BB has four, daily alarms and a snooze function. Then, there is a button operation tone, which can be turned on/off and an hourly time signal, which can be turned on/ff. The GX-56BB, also has a full-auto calendar, countdown timer, a stopwatch, and 12/24 time formats. VERDICT: The GX-566BB is a jack-of-all-trades, making it a must-own, ESPECIALLY for the outdoors. In addition to the price, build, and the features, which I mentioned for this watch, the purchaser is surely, getting a steal.

Not too big!
I was anticipating this watch being too big and the face being hard to see in certain conditions. It fits great on my 7.5” wrist and I haven’t had any visual issues worth mentioning. I love the feel of this watch, it’s super comfortable for all day use. I do wish it had some of the Bluetooth features that other models have, to track steps and location, but that’s ok!! Great watch I know will last many years.

A great watch!
Let’s get to the important stuff: the readability. Yes, it’s a negative, stealthy cool screen, it’s a bit harder in some light conditions but you got the auto-backlight feature for that. You just lift your arm and point the watch to your eyes and the numbers light up in a great blue/green tone. Or you can just press the light button and voilà! It’s solar powered, so you won’t have to worry about spending battery life. And when pointed at direct light, the gold digits look just beautiful! Over all, it’s a fantastic watch. It’s a Casio and it’s a G-Shock, what else do you need? Yes, smart watches do a lot of stuff today, yes they do, so? First of all, I don’t like having that much radiation on my wrist all the time, ok? It’s like having your phone stuck to your skin all day and all night, no thanks. Second, I own an applewatch and I use it for specific stuff. Yes, it’s nice to switch the song on your spotify or apple lusic feom your watch or replying to a message just with your voice and talking to the watch like Maxwell Smart or James Bond, but again, the radiation. Plus, I don’t need to be monitored in many areas all the time if u know what I mean. And last, I don’t use most of the apps constantly. I want a rugged, strong and reliable buddy who will go with me through everything and that’s my King Square Casio. I don’t need to take it off to charge it and plug it on the wall, it charges up even with my night lamp! It has 5 alarms, snooze function, chronometer, stop watch, time zone, daylight savings, solar powered… and it can resist almost anything! You can go through a tornado with this guy on your wrist and chances are higher for it to come out better than yourself 😆 Size? Well, it’s big, but it’s not that big. If you have a 7 inch wrist or wider, you’re set. It’s called the Dark Knight, how cool is that? Don’t hesitate, get it and enjoy!

Amazing King G watch
This is my new work watch, looks great and was built to withstand tougher environments. I saw some reviews about the darkness of the dial but I love it and it looks stealthy. I love that it’s solar and I don’t have to worry about changing the battery. For the price and quality of this watch, you can’t go wrong. Don’t have second doubts just get it, trust me it’s worth it.

Really Big Watch, Really Tough Watch
I have had the solar GX56BB-1 (blackout version) for a couple of weeks now. It was a good Amazon purchase for me. It is one of three watches I own. I also have an older G Shock Rangeman and a Timex Command Shock 200m. I like each of the three equally and for different reasons. I am a big guy with big wrists and it fits pretty well, but it is big enough that it pushes against the back of my hand/wrist area anytime my hand is drawn backward toward my body (think doing pushups). It isn't exactly uncomfortable, but it is certainly noticeable. Now, I knew going in that this was a big, thick watch, so I am not surprised by how it fits, but it is something to keep in mind before ordering. I am tough on watches and whack them all the time against walls, corners, furniture, and whatever, so I needed something that I didn't need to worry about. There are some beautiful watches out there, but I'm not a collector and I would most certainly end their lives prematurely with how I live. This thing, however, is a tank. I have not had the fogging issue that others have mentioned in reviews, but I also have not gone out on a dive with it yet. I do some snorkeling with my wife when we vacation, so I fully intend to wear it for that kind of light underwater use. I have no doubt whatsoever that it laughs at those sorts of applications. Good luck killing it, if you aren't deliberately trying to do so. Everything on the watch works as expected. I love having the solar feature. Messing around with batteries sucks. As mentioned by many others, this G Shock does not have the multiband atomic function, but it simply isn't worth the extra money to have that feature. Need to know the exact time? Just go to time.gov and set the watch as needed. It's not like it loses twenty seconds per day or anything crazy like that. Mine runs about +2 seconds every month, so no biggie. The push buttons are quite stiff, but work great. I would rather have a watch where the buttons are over-engineered and tougher to push than having one where the buttons are bumped easily or are anemic from a durability standpoint. Setting the watch, using the timer, using the stopwatch, and so on, are all relatively easy to do. Another excellent feature of this watch is the fact that it has a real strap with plenty of length. I abhor dealing with watches with tiny, little bands that aren't long enough to actually fit a man's wrist. This watch's band has enough length that I'm not at the last or next to the last notch, so I don't have to worry about losing the thing. Thank you! The only minor quibble I have with this G Shock is the display. It's not hard to read, but it also isn't the most visible display ever put on a watch. The backlighting works great, so there's no problem reading it in complete darkness. The challenge is when the light is just bright enough that the backlighting isn't effective or doesn't turn on (I have it set up to do this automatically), but not quite bright enough outside to make the watch easy to read. In those cases, the watch is still readable, but it takes a slight moment to confirm the reading. In bright light/sunlight, the watch is just fine though. Again, this is a minor point. The watch is excellent. I just wanted to be clear that the negative display is cool, but requires a small adjustment by the user. It is a "tactical" or black-out watch, after all, so the negative display makes sense from that perspective. Need a warthog-tough watch that doesn't need to be coddled? Want a piece that keeps excellent time and will serve you well for years? This is the one for you. I love it.

Big G Shock
This is the Watch I was looking for, I really like this thing. I feel it is a good buy, feels strong and of good quality. It is full of functions, I won't use all of them but it's nice. So far the battery is good, the solar charger is pretty cool. The watch isn't to hard to use as long as you read the instructions. and it is water resistant. Over all I like the watch.

A Solid Watch For The Price
Solid G-Shock. I've always wanted a "square" design G-Shock but the others just look too skinny to me. So this model was the answer. Also, having solar was a huge plus. I absolutely love the design and look of this particular model. I don't seem to have the fogging issue as others have. Even after taking it into the hot shower, running it under water and even using it on the hot sun. I guess they must have fixed that. Could have been a bad batch of QC. Anyway, this watch is great, functions well and looks great as well. The negative display is a bit hard to read under very low-light. As long as you have some decent like light like downlights or the sun then it's readable. For a 100 bucks or so it’s a great durable watch with all of the standard G-Shock features. It's pretty large but in-person it's not as large as I expected it to be. I would highly recommend this model of you need a watch that keeps good time, doesn't need maintenance and looking for something that is durable and cheap. A great buy.
