Sound, Ayurvedic, Ancient Women's Healing--From the Perspective of a Monastic
I had been waiting ages to buy this book because as soon as I got to checking out of Amazon, it would invariably be sold out. Good sign. I very much enjoyed this book. It has a fresh perspective on ancient ayurvedic practices--for women. I think Tiwari's advice is sound and grounded, and enjoins a healing that is real-- it takes slowing down, feeling foods and herbs, reflection, herbs, MENSTRUATING WITH THE MOON. The section on menstruating with the new moon was very intriguing for me. The author advises that we must menstruate with the new moon, and just linking up to that cycle will cure most reproductive diseases. Topics about sex or intimacy are very sparse, as this is written by a monastic. I was surprised that she recommended intercourse just during the full moon, because the full moon in the east is a time for brahmacharya (celibacy and study) and meditation. She says that a healthy and bright baby will be produced if conception occurs during the full moon, and I just have heard the complete opposite. Dunno. Anyhow, there are many usable, structured remedies and practices to try that I think will be incredibly helpful. She outlines specific days and even hours to practice the remedies, which I think might get a little daunting. Getting a moon calendar and ascribing certain days for your various remedies would work well. I have read so much about this topic and there is a lot of new ground here. I recommend it.

Best book ever on Ayurveda and women health
Best book ever on Ayurveda and women health. I started studying Ayurveda in 1985 when Deepak Chopra started with us too. Takes a woman to really understand lunar cycles and woman cycles.

Amazing - very informative!
Edit: The first time I read it, I kind of took it for granted. I was expecting spiritual sadhana exercises for women (yoga, mantras etc.) and I didn't really know what to do with the herbal remedies and other information. I guess I wasn't ready for it. Anyway, a few months after I started to have Intense PMS symptoms. I have always had painful moon cycles, but this was an entire new level. Since I remembered that Ms. Maya Tiwari speaks about healing different PMS conditions, I decided to look it up in her book. I followed her instructions and within a week my pain was completely gone! Moreover, my moon cycle was for the first time okay. I had some minor cramps, but nothing intense, which is definitely a miracle for me. I feel encouraged to explore my connection with Mother Earth even more, and to find new ways of healing myself, by actually going through the process myself. Ms. Maya Tiwari is definitely correct when she says that making your own herbal mixtures (grinding it) is therapeutic. I would recommend every woman to read this. There are also some helpful healing tips for women who have just gone through an abortion etc. Even if you don't ever need it - you might never know to whom you can recommend it. Thank you so much Ms. Maya Tiwari.

Good book
It’s a good book. Lot’s of insight in knowing the spiritual and ancient philosophy on women. Includes some stories, knowledge, techniques and remedies. But don’t think would be possible doing that without supervision or a help.

Re-traumatizing section about miscarriage
I bought this book seeking insights on healing from miscarriage. The miscarriage section is only a couple pages, and it is lumped in with abortion and s*xual abuse. In these few pages, it implies that miscarriage happens because of stress/anger built up in the body of the woman, bad relationship with the mother-in-law, or a lack of "Mother Consciousness" in the pregnant person, and other factors that essentially blame the body/spirit/emotions of the mother. Science tells us that most miscarriages happen because the fetus has chromosome abnormalities that do not enable it to be viable from its conception. The implication that it was somehow my fault was extremely distressing to me, and I was unable to continue reading the book without crying. For these reasons, I do not trust the insights of the author and do not recommend this book.
