For aquariums simply soak them in water in a separate container for 24-48 hours until they become waterlogged and easily sink to the bottom of your tank, or they will float around for the day until they saturate. It is best for an established Tank that you soak them for a few hours in similarly conditioned water before adding in the environment. In a dry environment for hermit crabs, reptiles or birds, it is best to boil and then bake them to full dryness so that you clean the cholla cactus of any bacteria. They are cleaned but best to always take precautions since they were stored and shipped. All natural organic thorn-free Cholla Wood is safe for all types of pets. Pets such as dwarf shrimp, snails, pleco and fish enjoy swimming around and hiding in these hollow holey pieces of wood. Other pets like hermit crabs, chinchillas, hamsters, rabbits and all kinds of reptiles the cholla wood is great in cages and tanks to climb rest and bask on the beautiful pieces of wood. Parrots, cockatiels and other birds use the cholla wood as a healthy chew toy. As a natural plant product the dried cholla cactus husk will slowly lower the ph levels in your aquarium that many shrimp or aquatic pets prefer. The approximately 6” x .5-1.25” logs do release small amounts of tannins. You can reduce this by boiling, rinsing and soaking the wood before placing them in your tank. These are the perfect size to hide the smaller ones and are secure once you soak them in water for a bit. Great looking in the tank as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You want this…. *by J***Y on August 24, 2026* I am so pleased with my teddy cholla. This thing is large and clean and beautiful and…currently floating in my tank. It will sink, not my first rodeo. Give it time. My future shrimp are going to be in heaven. Great value. A+ quality. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for shrimp and growing biofilm *by K***7 on June 23, 2026* Great product! There are small holes on the ends so shrimp can get in, but too small for snails. I did not experience any tannin increase. It took much less time for them to sink to the bottom of the tank as opposed to other logs I have purchased. I don't understand the reviews complaining about them molding. They very easily grow biofilm, which shrimp love to eat. My shrimp love to hide in them. ## Frequently Bought Together - Awesome Aquatic Natural Cholla/Choya Wood 3 Pieces 6” for Shrimp Habitat and Food Treat Hermit Crabs Plecos Aquarium Decoration Lowers pH Hideouts and Chew Toys Reptiles Thorn Free Dried Organic - SunGrow Shrimp Rocks, Calcium, Magnesium Rocks for Crayfish, Hermit Crab, Snails, Crustacean Care, Aquarium Decor for Crystal Red, Amano and Ghost Shrimps, Nano Tank Accessories, Fish Tank Supplies - Aqueon Omnivore Shrimp Disc Food 1.65 Ounces --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/82525946-awesome-aquatic-natural-staghorn-cholla-wood-tube-3-pack-6](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/82525946-awesome-aquatic-natural-staghorn-cholla-wood-tube-3-pack-6) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
