Perfect depth and works great in Acer Chromebook 15
I have an Acer Chromebook 15 CB5-571-C09S and just received this adapter. It works VERY nicely in my Chromebook. I verified before opening the package that this adapter was the right size and the right pin layout (it is perfect in both respects). I suspected and now have confirmed for myself the reason the adapter may not sit evenly in the slot as reported by another reviewer here. The slot in the Acer Chromebook is not EXACTLY the same shape at each end as this adapter is at the ends of the aluminum end cap, not quite as rounded. The result is that the adapter "wings" don't fit all the way in easily. You can do one of 2 things to fix: either trim the ends of the slot opening to be more rounded or fitted to the adapter, or gently file the aluminum "wings" just a little to fit the slot (what I did). Then it will fit perfectly. I know this will void any warranty on the item but I verified it is working before doing anything and test fitted many many times to ensure not to remove too much. There are still "wings" sticking out on each end of the adapter, just not quite as much as original. This adapter now fits perfectly even and flush in my Chromebook slot. OK, maybe not perfectly since there is a curve to the underside of the Acer that doesn't match the adapter perfectly but I really have to try to even feel it when I run my finger along the side of the Chromebook. I use a SanDisk Ultra 128GB micro SDXC card in the adapter and can now just leave it in there all the time. The finger nail slot works as advertised to remove it if that should ever need to be done.

Works great with a little help.
First off, I tried several other types of MicroSD card adapters but none gave me much confidence either by way of build quality, performance or both. I spent the extra money on this adapter because I was at my wits end with the other four or five I had tried. As far as this adapter goes, the build quality is great, it fits perfectly, looks like it belongs where it is and is easy to remove when necessary. I am using a SanDisk 200GB MicroSD card and have had no performance issues. I use the drive to hold my iTunes library (north of 100GB) and some other media files and haven't had any troubles with the adapter. I have experienced slow downs with data transfer rates (attributed to the MicroSD card itself) but I benchmarked my MicroSD card with a USB adapter and a couple other SD card adapters including the BaseQi adapter and saw no performance impact using the BaseQi adapter versus the others. One thing I did notice that I determined to be attributed to Mac OS X and not the adapter is that the drive mould rarely remount after my computer woke up from any length of being asleep. After a bit of Google-Fu and testing other standard SD card adapters, I came to the conclusion that Mac OS X (I'm on 10.11.5 right now) is fickle about remounting SD cards after awaking from a sleep period regardless if you use the Power Nap feature or not. My solution that has worked out exceptionally well is to use an application called Jettison to remount the SD card after awaking from sleep.

After minor modifcation this is an almost perfect fit for the SurfaceBook
After looking at many of these for my SurfaceBook I came to the conclusion there was not a solution that would work without requiring some modification. I thought the BaseQi looked like it would fit the best and other reviewers implied it took very little modification to get it working with the SurfcaeBook. I am happy to report that after filing down the side nubs with a metal nail file I was able to get this adapter to fit nicely. It does not quite sit flush unfortunately sitting inside the slot a few millimeters. This is a bit disappointing aesthetically but this is not the intended use of the product so I can't really fault it for that. I am happy at the end of the day and have an additional 200GB of storage. I would recommend this to anyone with a Surfacebook looking to utilize the odd sized SD slot.

Add Huge Amounts of "Internal" Storage to Your Mac with this Little Device that will Go Completely Visually Unnoticed
This little device is terrific. If you have a MacBook Pro manufactured within the date range listed (mine is a late 2013 model), you take this little guy, pop in a 200Gb micro SDXC card, and slip it in the SDXC card slot of your Mac. You won't even see it, as it sits flush with the computer's body. Voila! My MacBook Pro now has an extra 200Gb of storage space! (I use mine to store my iTunes library, plus my iPhoto library.) It's great because it allows me to offload those files and buy back that space (my iTunes library at points has been around 150Gb since I have a lot of lossless ALAC and FLAC files in it.) But you can just as easily use it for anything else: documents storage, raw photos storage, etc. Since it's connected via the SDXC slot, as long as you are using a fast card, you get transfer rates that are quite acceptable should you ever need to copy or move between the card and the built in storage. It;s not all gravy. You are, of course, giving up your SDXC slot, so, should you need it to transfer photos, you'll either have to temporarily pull this card out, or transfer your photos via a USB-enabled card transfer device. But for me, this is not an issue, because having that extra space is much more important, and I can always transfer photos via USB. The cool thing is that it should not be too long before the 512Gb micro-SDXC cards are out, and then I'll be essentially increasing my internal storage space of my Mac by 50%! Talk about extending the life of a computer! The device itself is well constructed, and uses an aluminum front panel so that it perfectly matches the computer's case. No one will ever even notice it. I leave mine in all the time. This is an easy five-star device that offers great exansion capabilities at a reasonable price, and in a manner that blends right in with the Mac. I highly recommend it!

BRILLIANT solution for more internal storage!
4.5 Stars! What a BRILLIANT and easy way to add 2TB of storage to my MacBook Pro! Now, please note that the SD card reader in your mac is NOT super fast, but it’s fast enough. If memory serves me correctly, with a fast SanDisk card, I get close to 90-100MB per sec, which is fine for general file storage to keep my internal SSD free for the heavy-lifting. Only complaints are that once it’s in snugly, it’s hard to get out, and I have to use a small flat head screwdriver, as my fingernails just can’t do it. The other complaint goes hand in hand with this, but isn’t a problem of this unit, but more so the Mac, as sometimes the card doesn’t mount, and needs to be pulled out and put back in for the computer to see it. I know this is a Mac issue (at least with my machine, but likely others as well) because this happens with regular SD cards. So you’ll want to keep something handy to pry it open when you need to. I don’t have to do it often, which is good. I highly recommend this, and the only issue is the price of high capacity Micro SD cards. But still WAY cheaper than Apple’s tax on internal SSD storage!

5 Minutes of Research = Successful Happy Customer
I'm skeptical about the baseline competency of the reviewers who gave this device less than 4 stars with this adapter. With about 5 minutes of research online I was able to filter down to the exact model to buy for my MacBook Pro 15" Retina (late 2015). I entered that model into the Amazon search, came up with a match and ordered it immediately. It was sent within two days and upon receipt, I promptly inserted it into the SD card slot. As expected, a perfect fit, flush to the side edge of the MacBook Pro. I'm very particular about the aesthetics of my electronics, computers and peripherals. The build quality and materials of this adapter are directly on par with a standard I would hold Apple to. The MicroSD card loaded up as expected on the operating system, and the speeds are comparative to the obvious capability of the SD adapter and Micro SD card itself. The adapter fits snugly in the slot, and I could not remove it with my fingernail (nor did I expect to). I used a plastic spudger with gentle effort to remove it, however I would assume a regular flat-head screwdriver would work with the same force. I tested it with my other MacBook Pro 15" Retina (mid 2015) - same exact results as before. As expected. I purchased a Transcend 256GB Jet Drive Lite and it was built well, but not as seamless as this adapter. The lip on the Jet Drive stuck out just enough to block the ability to use my MacBook Pro with the Horizontal Henge Docks station. Deal-breaker on both aesthetics (because it was black plastic and not anodized aluminum) and form. That all being said, if you don't get the correct model for your MacBook Pro then you likely won't have success and that is your fault for not doing research to buy the correct model.

Perfecta
Funciona y encaja perfectamente. No sobresale nada.

Very useful, no unmounting issues.
My understanding is that this adapter is a passive device, meaning that it has no storage capacity, no sleep mode, no speed restrictions, or any active circuitry - so all of the standard Amazon feature ratings are moot. I have a 400GB sandisk extreme micsoSD card in it, and it is great. No unmounting issues at all when my computer goes to sleep or gets shut off. The adapter is hard to remove (you need a screwdriver to pry it out) but that is the entire point of this device. Installing the microSD card into the adapter is fairly easy as it just slots in. The adapter is truly flush with no protruding parts whatsoever.
