Moeller Clear Site Water Separating Fuel Filter System (3/8" NPT, Aluminum)

Works great does the job it is suppose to. Amazon sent me a bad item which I had to return, and I re bought locally..Its great though...

I purchased this item to be placed on a twenty foot boat with a 150 Mercury Blackmax. The fittings were not brass as shown but were aluminum. Without realizing the proper direction of filtration I put the nozzle fittings opposite instead of on the same side of the filter. Needless to say, it would not work. I realized my mistake but was not able to unscrew one of the nozzles to put on the same side.The nozzle was stripped. I actually tried to use a plumming wrench and it still would not budge. I could not believe it. Unbelievable. I am very disappointed in this product. I ended up not being able to use it. The reason I purchased the metal plate instead of the plastic was because I thought it was more sturdy. I very much regret having done so. Hope this review saves other boaters the aggravation I went through with this product. I do have to say that I appreciate that I can review this item.

Came well packaged. Install was really easy, but did not come with mounting bolts. It does work well as I did have some water in my fuel from sitting over the winter. My only concern is how long the plastic drain cock will last.

It would have been nice to have known that this fuel filter was not for use with diesel fuel.I did not see this on the add,but after it shipped to Alaska. I bought the fuel filter to use on a diesel system but in the box it said not for use with diesel fuel.could not use product for my system. Amazon should this be clearly stated in the description??

Giving this a 3-star rating, based on the apparent quality of the unit - mine has the metal 'head' unit - and seems very well made. Everything appears to be in the box - back panel inside of the box tells you how to change the filter, and how to drain water from the bowl, but there are ZERO installation instructions - how to install the hose barbs and port blocks, do I need to use any sort of sealant/tape; do I use the ports on one side and block off the other side, or block an inlet on one side and outlet on the other? Recommended size bolts for mounting? Mounting suggestions?Granted, I am fairly mechanically inclined and can figure out the mounting piece - that's not a big deal - but pretty much a novice on hooking up one of these since it's my first install. Sure - I can go out and find pictures on the internet, but I would think basic installation instructions and helpful tips would be included in the box - this is not a cheap item. Quality of the product is there, but this is the one thing I think they missed the mark on (unless I got a previously returned unit and the instructions were not returned).I was not able to find anything on the Moeller website as far as instructions either - is the assumption by Moeller that if you order one of these, you are intimately familiar with the installation and setup process?I'll get this installed on Saturday - hopefully easily and with no extra trips to a hardware store for things I may need - but between now and then, I'll be scouring the internet for info.....

SO FAR SO GOOD,DOES WHAT IT`S SUPPOSED TO DO.CAME WITH ALL FITTINGS,AND BECAUSE OF THAT INSTALLATION WAS EASY.VERY HAPPY WITH IT.

Love this fuel filter. I used to have issues when filling up at gas station and then boat would be hard to start. Someone recommended a fuel water separator. This thing cured my problem. Never had hard starting again. It gets the crap out of your fuel before the carburetor gets it. This is my second season using the filter.

Overall it seems to be a good product. The pictures of brass fittings need to be removed. You do not get brass fittings with the filter. The fittings are all aluminum and do not look anodized, so there is a very high chance that they will corrode within the first year. Pump has inlet and outlet port on both side of the head unit, making it somewhat universal. Highly disappointed the replacement filter is almost the same price as complete filter kit. If I didn't need a water seperating filter now, I would of returned it due to false advertisement of the fittings and the cost of a replacement filter.
