Great Book - Great for Kids - Beware the Taming Section
Great book for first time Lovebird owners. An easy read with a lot of information you are going to need. There’s just one thing I’m critical about and that’s the section on Taming your lovebird. They recommend pushing your fingers against the chest of the bird to teach it to step up and that’s not what you want to do at all. You should slowly develop trust with your bird by offering Millet or other treats and use the millet to lure the bird closer to your finger until they one day choose to step up. I promise they will step up, my birds despised me at one point but now I’m their poppa

Lovebirds
Just needed some more reading for my kids to insure they know all about their pets. Lots of good information. Great if you're a firt time lovebird owner.

It's ok..
The book contains the basic information. But it has nothing about when birds reach maturity, how to get them to eat vegetables and/fruits. How to train them when they are a few months old. I have found more hands-on information on the internet. It lacks a lot of details for someone just starting up.

The book was as described. Love the photos. I had a pair of peach-faced lovebirds from the late 1970s to the late 1980s and I wish I had this book then. Much of the information was familiar but some of it was new to me and worth knowing. Thanks. Volker

Service from amazon was good. But expected more from the product. It was an absolute waste of money.

I took a very instinctive decision to purchase a pair of lovebirds, then realised that I actually knew very little about them and how to look after them. I quickly bought a couple of books to fill the gap in my knowledge. The contents page looks like this: Before You Buy 5 Equipment 9 Your Lovebird's Diet 17 Bringing Your Lovebird Home 25 Living with Lovebirds 33 Lovebird Species 41 Safety 53 Health 61 Breeding Lovebirds 73 Understanding Your Lovebird's Body Language 85 Information 92 This book undoubtedly covers all of the basics of what you need to know in order to look after lovebirds. There are a handful of key facts highlighted with a green box throughout the book, which is good. This is particularly useful when it comes to which foods and plants to keep your lovebird away from, notably avocado. There are also some good diagrams regarding things like breeding and wing clipping. Having successfully looked after my lovebirds for a while now, I would say that this book tells you pretty much everything you need to know. I also bought The Lovebird Handbook (Pet Handbooks) at the same time, which is published by the same company (Barron's) with a different author. I can't give this Lovebirds (Complete Pet Owner's Manual) less than five stars because it is extremely good and quite comprehensive, but the other book, The Lovebird Handbook (Pet Handbooks) , has more pages (135 as opposed to 95) and covers some things in more detail, particularly when it comes to diseases than can afflict lovebirds and how to spot and deal with them. If you are buying one book or the other, I would go for The Lovebird Handbook, but this one does the job perfectly well.

This is a really good informative book for anyone who is thinking of, or has just become a new owner of pet lovebirds. I moved into my first flat of my own and wanted some type of pet bird as have always liked them and wanted a bird but never had the opportunity to have one. I decided on lovebirds purely because I think they are so cute and look beautiful! I didn't really know much else about them though so I purchased this book before buying them. It's taught me everything I need to know and as a result I have a couple of very happy and healthy lovebirds that are a pleasure to keep! This book is exactly what I needed!
