I had to replace the filter after a week of use due to a leak. These intake pre-filters do not come with that product but I wanted this product to filter out the bigger particles so it could extend the life of my filter. I rinsed this product before I put it into use (water ran clear) and when I changed from one filter that was defective to the replacement I wanted to use this again since it was only a week old. I removed the larger particles and decided to rinse this intake filter. When I did there was a ton of black particulate matter that rinsed out. I had to rinse it 3-4 times before it came clean. When I looked at my aqua clear foam insert it was almost perfectly white and when I rinsed it the water ran clear. the Aqua Clear AquaClear Foam Filter Inserts, 3 Pack is about $9 and change. the HuYaYa Pre-Filter Sponge,4 Pack is $6-7. that is a great value and a much easier replacement than the aqua clear filter but that means that my water will be cleaner and my costs will be less over the long term. This fits the aqua clear intake tube perfectly and it is quite durable and easy to install and remove for cleaning. There might be better products out there for the intake pre-filter but this one seems to work quite well!

These are great and for perfect for my filter tube's. Saved my filters from clogging and the little babies in the aquarium.

I did not see any mentions of this being good for Top Fin filters, so I wanted to add to the reviews. I have a 36 gal TopFin filter for my bowfront tank. It's a good filter that hangs outside of my tank. I ordered this because I wanted to add some shrimp to my tank. I am glad I ordered the 4 pack because these sponges are short and only fit about halfway on the intake of the filter. This was a super easy fix I just cut one of the sponges in half, put that on the intake filter (snug fit btw) and then added a full sized sponge on next. So for TopFin filters - this works - but you will need 1 and a half sponges for it to fit on the intake filter. You will also want to wash both sponges monthly in tank water.

Fits like a glove on the pre filter tube on my pump.

Been very happy with the product. Required a little stretching for initial fit, but then was correct snugness for removal and rinsing. Catches a lot of particulate.

The filter is great but not the size listed on the website. The filter received is much smaller.

The media could not be loaded. Works perfectly & is pretty universal in terms of fit. For reference i have a top fin filter for my aquarium & it was so easy to stretch a little for fit & does not slide off, It is a good medium thick & valuable since you get 4 of them.

I use these over the intake of my aquarium hanging filter. It helps with the filtration of the aquarium keeping the water clean. It also prevents smaller fish from being sucked through the filtration system. I’ve used these several times and would recommend them.
