Would this still work / be any good on a rounded surface? Ie: fishing bed chair

I've put mine on a metal bed frame but, i've had to do it where there are 2 horizontal bars right next to each other otherwise it wouldn't grip and move around. So it needs a good 2 inches to be able to grip on securely.
