Looking to use this on 1/2" galvanized pipe.** A: Jaws open to about 2.25" wide and will clamp onto a pipe with a 1.5" OD (largest pipe I have on Hand). So it should easily work on 1/2" galvanized pipe. **Q: How do I tighten the ends of the arm so my equipment doesn’t flop around?** A: There's just one knob to tighten. The one at the elbow. Tightening that one also tightens the ball joints at the ends of the arm. It's very clever. How can I set them in place?** A: Hi these clamps can only hold a certain amount of weight. If you trying to hold up a full frame camera with lens then it will droop. Also with use the knob will start to crack. Have a nice day ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value *by H***D on January 19, 2021* I bought one of these and was impressed by the value so I bought another. The other had a problem with the knob as you can see in the picture, there are stress fractures all around for the knob. Good thing Amazon has a great return policy so I returned one unit but has me thinking about how long the other will last. Good for light duty work and good value but inspect it to make sure that there are no issues before using it. It comes with a standard clamp that works well on tubes but not as well for flat vertical surfaces so be careful how you mount it.
